I stayed at this hotel for a 3-night period between Friday and Monday. The Hotel's location is quite convenient, only a couple of minutes walk away from both the Turin rail station and a metro station and 15 minutes walk away from some of the major sights and locations to be found. Several restaurants and cafes can be found in the neighborhood. I arrived quite late at night and had no issues with checking in at such a late hour. The room was a one-person room with a window overlooking the square, quite comfortable with a small flat-screen TV, a bed, a couple of chairs a clothes cupboard a small table, and an ensuite bathroom which may not be the most comfortable for tall and robust folk. Breakfast is served between 07:00 and 10:00.The continental breakfast was superb both in choice and quality. British-style breakfast is available as well but the food choice pales when compared to the continental breakfast, this doesn't mean however that it's bad by all means. Most of the time spent at the hotel was between bedtime and breakfast. Hotel hygiene was impeccable. Was surprised by toothbrushes and toothpaste being offered to guests. The staff was courteous and helpful with directions for major landmarks. Will be back here should the occasion arise.

I had previously stayed at his property 20 years ago on my first ever visit to Italy and so I was so excited about staying there again. When I booked, via HRS.com, it was stated that the hotel had centralized air conditioning. I booked a rate that was cancellable up until 18.00 without penalty. Upon arrival at the hotel, around 21.00, I found that I was allocated in a decrepit old room that was full of old furniture that was falling apart. There was no air conditioning at all and the shutters had been open all day, which meant that it was over 40 degrees in the room. There was no way I could sleep in there. The reception claimed I had been given an ‘upgrade’ to a 2 bed room (though in what universe a grotty old room could be considered an upgrade is beyond me) and told me there were no other rooms available that night. The room was completely unusable due to the heat and, as a result, I had to get another room at a different hotel for the night, paying for another hotel in the process. The hotel insisted that I pay for the room and have refused to refund me to either my travel agency or my bank. Indeed, the information they gave to my bank was completely incorrect, claiming the room was covered by air conditioning even though it was unbearably hot and there was only a puny small fan that blew the hot air around the room. If they had just refunded me or waived the room fee due to the poor condition of the room, I would have been inclined to give them a second chance. Instead, they have dug in and refused to take responsibility for a situation that is clearly their fault, promising a facility that they did not deliver. This hotel should be absolutely avoided by anyone looking for a good night’s sleep. Moreover, anyone looking for good customer service that has the interest of the customer at heart should also avoid it. My experience has been one of frustration and disappointment. It not only ruined this trip, it also ruined the memories of a trip I took years ago also. Never again.

What a lovely hotel! I always fancied going since I was a kid and i was getting off at Porta Nuova from outside the city. I always loved the grandeur. Now, 30+ years later I managed to stay for a weekend as I booked a weekend in Torino to go to the opera and see a couple of exhibitions. We arrived late at night from Caselle (due to the plane being late). The guy at Reception welcomed us with a friendly smile and very polite manners. We got allocated a basic double room but it had all we needed... plenty of storage room, a lovely balcony (although it was facing the internal yard), very high ceilings and a lovely bathroom. Plus we had a water dispenser just outside the room basically. The hotel was very quiet despite being busy. Breakfast was delicious, great selection of pastries, crispbread, jams, cakes, biscuits as well as savoury (ham, cheese, eggs, sausages). The only bit I was disappointed off... the bread selection. Considering bread is a must in Italy the selection was poor (sliced toastie bread OR those wee baguettes you get in Lidl basically). Anyway it was more than good! Overall a fantastic experience and will definitely return. PLUS the bis to Caselle Airport is literally across the road from the hotel. The hotel is extremely clean and grand.

This very well-run 3-star hotel is located right next to the main railway station across the street and thus has an excellent location. The reception at the hotel was very friendly and the room large and clean. The bathroom was also relatively large and spotlessly clean. There are some rooms with a balcony, which is not furnished. My room did not have one and faced the street. Thanks to the good windows, I did not hear any street noise during the night and could sleep well. There is a minibar in the room. It is empty and can be filled with your own drinks. Aircondition worked well. From April to October there is a garden terrace on the second floor where you can have drinks and snacks. The breakfast is above average for an Italian 3-star hotel and there is something for everyone. I can really recommend the Hotel Roma e Rocca Cavour and it is perfect for visitors to beautiful Turin thanks to its ideal location.

Excellent location, super easy to find from the Porta Nuova train station (walk straight ahead from the main entrance and look for the big neon "hotel Roma" sign. and very walkable to all the major sights in downtown Turin. Breakfast was very good, though I would recommend going earlier in the morning. Our first day we went later and it was very crowded and a number of the food items had run out. The second day we went early and it was much calmer with an excellent selection. The room itself was pretty large by European standards, clean and comfortable, and met all of our needs (especially once we realized there were extra pillows in the wardrobe). If you're looking for reasonable price, excellent location, and a good breakfast, this place is hard to beat.

What a delightful surprise this hotel was - being bang slap opposite the Porta Nuova Railway Station I had wondered whether it would be like so many hotels near stations - rather run down and impersonal - not at all. The reception staff were warm and welcoming. Our rooms were absolutely spotless, refurbished but with some old charm retained - my bed was inlaid wood and the mattress was comfortable, and the woodblock floors were beautiful. There was a small balcony overlooking a courtyard where dozens of swifts wheeled and called. The rooms are lofty, and air conditioning is efficient. Modern bathrooms with plenty of super fluffy white towels. Chilled water drinking fountains are available with carafes to take to the rooms. There are two lifts. Breakfast was superb, and served in two spacious and cool dining rooms. Every taste was covered : Juices/ Fruits/ Yogurt/ Many different breads/ Pastries/ Cakes/ Cold meats/ Cheeses / Eggs etc..etc.. As our train to Florence did not leave until the afternoon, we were able to leave all our bags in the locked hotel storeroom, and there was a cloakroom available to freshen up on our return from exploring Turin. All staff were without fail, helpful and efficient.

Hotel in good order and great location, breakfast was good but understaffed but where the real problem lies is on the front desk, when I check into a hotel I don’t want a miserable unhappy rude person to trow a key at me, I’m on holiday with my hard earned cash and I’m dammed if I want to spend it on something that’s not what it should be, people go into the hospitality trade to be hospitable, the clue is in the job title, if you can’t be hospitable you’re in the job and I hope the guy on the front desk reads this that dealt with me, if I had your attitude in my line of work I’d be broke, take it on board or find a new career where you haven’t got to deal with the public.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! 1) There is NO PRIVACY in your room. Staff wander freely - cleaners, desk staff, managers were all in our room when we weren't there! No safe, no 'do not disturb' sign. They could be in anything. 2) We were locked out of our room on the second day. On enquiring why desk staff said they smelled smoke in our room. We explained we smoked on balcony, hence purchase of suite - we even brought our own ashtry for the balcony and brought desk staff up to see it & she said she couldn't smell smoke. The staff said it was ok to smoke on balcony as others had done (previous guest left cigarette butts on balcony which weren't cleaned up - photo available) but they charged us £60 because of smell even though they accepted we didn't smoke in room!!! The Director refused to meet with us to discuss this even though we requested it 3 days in a row - cowardly to get your staff to do your job! 3) Decor - Ceiling is beautiful (another reason to use balcony to smoke) but otherwise decor is old and rickety, not antique & certainly no tapestries. Sitting area is not seperate as stated but is just a plastic bed settee at the bottom of your bed. 4) Air-con not working 5) Extractor Fan in bathroom not working 6) Loads of street noise, as door/windows seals inadequate - trouble if you're a light sleeper! 7) Bed and Pillows hard 8) Doors to bathroom and hall wouldn't close. Bad carpentry. 9) At 5'8" my feet are about an inch off the floor when sitting on toilet - too high. 10) Cleaners or any other person to have wandered about our room, left windows open and swarm of flies entered. Took over an hour to clear them all out 11) Staff friendly 12) Food adequate

No comment. The best response to this comment that is as pretextuous as it is unresponsive to factual reality are the many positive reviews of so many of our other guests. Have a good life.

big bed although a bit hard for our liking; toilet is way too high and uncomfortable...at 5 foot 7 inches even my feet were a good inch or two off the ground! We paid extra for a room with a good balcony so we could smoke, having travelled extensively in Italy and knowing rooms are no smoking. However on day 2 of our stay the lady at reception said we were smoking in the room and there would be a €60 fee. We explained that we only smoked on the balcony and she came back to us the next day to say again that the room smelled of smoke... really calling us liars more or less. We asked to speak to the manager...lady said she would check again. Day before leaving and still insisting that room smells of smoke and they cannot rent the room for at least one night (funny since it's unavailable so already booked for the day after our departure). This has totally spoiled our holiday...the fact that we are being discriminated against because perhaps our clothes smell of smoke...and the fact that we are being called liars - not happy!!!

Response from Alessandro Comoletti, Direttore generale at Hotel Roma e Rocca Cavour
Responded May 28, 2023
We are sorry that you don't seem to understand the situation. Throughout the Hotel, numerous signs indicate that smoking is strictly prohibited. These signs also notify guests that an additional cleaning fee will be charged if any evidence of smoking, such as the lingering smell of smoke, is noticed in the room. There's a valid reason why smoking isn't permitted. Smoking within the hotel premises necessitates thorough cleaning of carpets, curtains, walls, furniture, and other items that may have absorbed the unpleasant odour. You stayed in the Suite, furnished with antique furniture, wall tapestries, and a ceiling adorned with a fresco dating back over 200 years - we're sure you understand that we can't risk having a smoke smell attached to these. Both the Director and the maid had noticed the presence of a smoke odour in the room. Despite being reminded of the no-smoking policy on the first day of your stay, you continued to smoke in the room. Whether a guest smokes in the room or on the balcony with the doors open - both are prohibited - the smell of cigarette is noticeable. We have made efforts to provide a designated smoking area, like a beautiful terrace within the hotel premises, to accommodate the needs of our smoking guests. It would have been best if you had respected the fact that we are a non-smoking Hotel and used it. Alessandro Comoletti. Direttore
