I was in Turin for work, and together with colleagues I decided to stay there. I had already met the hotel with the TV show “4 Hotel”
The stay, one night, satisfied me, even breakfast. Great solution in the center of the beautiful Turin.

5 stars for the room. 1 star for the staff. = average rating

I was so disappointed with this hotel. The rooms are without a doubt modern, clean, spacious and comfortable. We had both a Suite and a Regular Room for our family. The Suite was huge with a powder room and large marble bathroom. A large bedroom and living room with big windows allowing for a lot of light but no view. Automatic blackout shades were also a nice touch. Especially for Italy, I was very impressed with the rooms here and even the standard room was very comfortable.

Business center exists, but the computers were not connected. So it could not be used.
There is a pool but it was closed.
Room service was bad, very bad. The eggs were premade and soggy. And, in Torino, the home of Lavazza, we were very disappointed in the awful cappuccini. They tasted like instant coffee. And the tea selection was also substandard. Salad at lunch was also bad and the dressing was mayonnaise?
Also worst TV channel selection of all the places we have stayed in Italy.

The staff seemed to not care and because of them, I would not stay here again nor recommend this hotel. Everything seemed to be a huge inconvenience to them. Upon arrival, the main door was closed so we used a huge and heavy side door. It was tricky opening the door carrying baby, bags, and no one offered to help or even hold the door open. Every time I arrived or departed with baby and the stroller (and there is no ramp) no one offered to help me down or up the stairs or with the door. The staff would just stand behind the desk looking sour.

The first evening was my son's 1st birthday and we needed to depart at 7 to drive to our friend's home where they were throwing a party for him. At 6:45 my husband called for our car to be brought up. At 7:00 as we were heading out the door, they called our room to inform us our taxi was here. We said, no we needed our car brought up from the garage. We went down to the lobby and there was no car. 45 minutes later, with us all standing around the lobby waiting, they finally brought up our car. This was with no one else in the lobby, no one checking in and countless times we asked the ladies at the desk "where is our car, we are late?" "oh it will be here in 2 min" was always the response.

The next day we needed to depart at 10:00 to drive to the airport. My husband went down at 9:30 to ask at the front desk to please pull our car up from the garage we have to drive to the airport. Of course when we got down to the lobby at 10:00 there was no car! My husband finally asked the bellman to get our car, and he managed to retrieve it in 10 min.

We were really looking forward to staying here as we come to Torino almost every year to visit family and friends and we liked the location (very close to via Roma) and modern rooms. We won't be returning after our experience there. If you are simply looking for a nice room and don't expect any of the other things that make a 5* hotel special, this hotel could work. But if you are used to 5* service or staff who care about their guests, go elsewhere.

Rooms: 08/10 Large, Good ambience
Reception: 07/10
Breakfast: 06/10 Very Limited Options (I think it may be Italian tradition as i was told by my Italian host)
Location: 10/10 In the heart of the city. It can help to explore the city within no time.
Lobby: 06/10. Small area

Overall, It may be of good value for business people but not recommended for leisure purposes due to high prices as compared to other hotels.

For Business Travelers: Keep in mind that city shutdown at 08:00 pm whereas shops normally started closing at 07:30 pm.

For Muslims: Halal food finding is a mission. So either you can go for Lebanese filafil which are almost 2 km away from hotel or look for vegetable stuff around.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon. There was no doorman, which you would expect in a 5* hotel, we had to go into the building to find somebody to get our luggage. A friendly receptionist gave us the key and indicated the winding way to our Junior Suite. Maybe these are Covid precautions.

The room that is called Junior Suite is a simple double room with two chairs, and a bath room. Just not what one expects.
There was no dinner service in the hotel on Sunday night. There was no rundown service in the evenings.
Next day, the maids took the towels away but did not put new ones in the bathroom. We had to call for them.
The Kleenex box was left empty, we had to call to replenish it.
The housekeeping staff was really unfriendly and worked without masks.
Soap and shampoo are presented in dispensers which should be changed from time to time. I did not dare to touch them during covid times.
The mineral water we took from the minibar was not refilled. We had to call. And in a 5* hotel one gets a bottle of water besides the bed !
Breakfast was ok under the circumstances. On the first day it was self service (!) and on the second day a waitress brought from the buffet what you liked.
The wifi connection was a disaster in our room at the end of the hallway. No connections.
Really, not what I am used to of 5*.
The reception staff was nice and helpful during the stay. The car was brought forward from the garage on time.
The location is also pleasant, next to great restaurants on Piazza Solferino and close to piazza San Carlo.

Stayed here with my 3 siblings for 1 night. We booked a quad room and the front desk kindly upgraded us to a suite which was so lovely of them. Breakfast was continental style but they made cooked breakfast upon request.
Easy walking access to the train station, main sights and shopping areas. Would definitely stay here again!

The hotel is split in two buildings. Bit inconvenient to stay in building 2 if you want to go to lobby and restaurant. No smoking room that definitely had seen some tobacco. Hotel is dated, remembers me of the hotels 20-30 years ago (that were already old at that time). Location is very good. Breakfast is excellent. Staff is friendly. Will not stay there again

I had one of my worst hotel experiences at the Golden Palace. Especially considering that this is supposedly a 5 star hotel.
We arrived at the hotel around 4:30 pm and at check in were told that the rooms were not ready. When asked how long it could take the answer was that it could take 2-4 hours. The receptionist never used the word "sorry". We have never been told the reason of the delay except that there was a big group checking out late.
Later in the night when we came back to check in it took another 30 mins since there was only one receptionist who was utterly rude and did not apologize either. His only comment was " maybe you should talk to the management"
When in the room I wanted to order some food. It was around 11:30 pm. It took me 45 mins until anyone answered the phone. I tried reception, concierge, restaurant and even house keeping.
This hotel is a 2 star hotel the most. There are many other hotels where you can much better service. My suggestion: Avoid at any cost!

Was my second stay in this hotel an a was very disapointed
We arrived late and the front desk person gave us a room in Golden 2
Knowing from my last stay than it is not the best place I was asking to change to the main building
The lady told us then we have to pay an upgrade
When we have asked about the price she told 4 Eur
Very surprised we have ask only 4 Eur?She told yes and we accepted
When we arrived in the room was totaly different comparing with my room 2 year ago but being tired we accepted
We have ask about an restaurant and the front desk person Francesca gave us the adress
Of course the restaurant was closed in Sunday!
To the check out in the invoice was written 40 Eur for upgrade
Asking about the difference Francesca told us than this is the price. And it is allready payed
Come after an gentlemen telling us in a very taf way than this is the price than any comment it is not accepted
Stay away from this hotel
I made a very big mistake being tempting by a special offer in booking.com
The hotel it is almost empty and now I understand why!

On August 11, 2018 at approximately 9pm myself, my wife and my two children along with another couple and their child came into the Golden Palace Hotel to see if they had any rooms available for the evening. Immediately, the man at the reception desk became somewhat agitated saying that it was late for a check-in...and that he only had two rooms available. Given his demeanor, I thought it best to at least view the rooms first. When I requested if we could see the rooms first...he said that we couldn't. I really thought that I must have misunderstood him...so I asked again if we could just see the rooms first...and then come back down to the front desk and take care of all of the paperwork. Again, he told me that nobody can see the room before they buy it. I told my family and friends that I was done...and let's get out of here. The man then came from behind the front desk out to the lobby as I was walking away and made some nasty remarks. When I turned around he was picking up his pants and posturing in a fighting position to me. Now, I was pissed...and had to be held back as he was coming towards me. Given that I was not in my home town, I went back to our car and left. But, trust me...I wanted him to throw that first punch because I'd have decked him. Needless to say, my better judgement to walk away prevailed. We went to the StarHotels Majestic where we were treated kindly and with respect. For me to write a negative review speaks volumes to the horrendous experience received by this Golden Palace Hotel.

Response from Iacopo C, Guest Relations Manager at Allegroitalia Golden Palace
Responded Sep 4, 2018
Dear guest, With this review You touched a very sensitive point of our hospitality, that is our staff, of which we are extremely proud and to which all guests reserve sincere congratulations for their professional and warm welcome. Beyond the misunderstandings and disruptions that may have occurred during check-in, the story that You told deeply affects our image and doesn't represent our model of hospitality, that is instead focused on cheerfulness, kindness and customer care. Threatening someone of aggression on a public platform like Tripadvisor is a very serious accusation and everyone should be sure of what is writing before moving it. So, we are more than willing to host You again at the Golden Palace to show that what You wrote doesn't correspond to truth and to impress You positively with the professionalism that has always distinguished all our staff, main strenghts of our hotel. Cordial greetings, The staff of Allegroitalia Golden Palace

Golden Palace is one of the few 5 star hotels in Turin, but currently only rated as No. 27 on Tripadvisor.... And no wonder....

Pros :

- amazing central location
- nice bathroom
- clean
- great bed and duvets

Cons :

- inconsistent WIFI. sometimes great, mostly WEAK or NON existing..!
- extra charges for the SPA
- tiny tiny rooms... no space for 2 suitcases
- room service charge 10 €, and when trying to order the pizza from the 24 hour menue,
at 1 AM the answer was : "We only serve cold food at night", I replied, but you do state hot items in your menue, the answer was : "that must be a mistake then"
- only 2 hangars in the closet, ordered more after the first night, never got delivered..
- only one glass in the minibar
- asking the receptionist in the morning if this is really a 5 star hotel, the answer was : "the building you are in is only 4 star, the other one is the 5 star" RIDICULOUS, in every booking platform the hotel is stated as 5 star...
- poor poor poor TV signal..
- aircondition is not working as it should.. when turned off, you still hear it making noise...

This hotel try to be cool and fancy.. but it only shines on the outside.. I will not go back..

And finally the answers from the management on Tripadvisor to the many guests giving low ratings are pathetic and an insult to the paying clients trying to inform about the lack of service in this hotel.. management should think a bit more about why this so called 5 star hotel is only number 27 in Turin...
