This hotel had excellent customer service and a prime location right on Bolzano's main square. A parking garage underneath the hotel is available for EUR19/day. The breakfast was fantastic (eggs and porridge available cooked to order plus a substantial buffet). Our room looked out over the square, which was a lively view, but if you are concerned about noise, then you likely don't want to be right on the square as it was a bit noisy with Friday night shenanigans in the evening (but we could still sleep). The front desk staff went out of her way to give advice on a great trip on the Wine Road, even calling to see if a church we wanted to see was open. We enjoyed our stay!

The Hotel Greif is on Bolzano’s main square and only an about five minute walk away from the train station. Each room is uniquely designed by an artist so one can stay in very different rooms on consecutive visits.
The breakfast was a real highlight with morning bubbly and the most amazing selection of sweet items alongside the usual breakfast staples. Considering the quality of the place and the location, it was also really good value for money.

This is an excellent choice for several days in Bolzano. The location of the hotel is perfect. It is set in a pedestrian area, an easy walk from the train station. We had a large suite with three windows overlooking the town square. The room was well furnished including large cabinets as well as a coffee maker setup. The room had ample storage place. The king sized bed was comfortable. It has a large modern bathroom with shower, bidet, and tub. Unlike the experiences of a few recent reviewers, we found the hotel to be clean, modern, and well maintained. And yes, all of the lights worked. The breakfast selection was outstanding with extensive selections of breads, meats, and cheeses. The dining service was perfect. You could eat outside on a patio overlooking the pedestrian walkway or dine inside. The front office staff was extremely hospitable and helpful giving us suggestions on local dining and local events and sights. The hotel cleaning service was excellent. We would certainly stay here the next time we are in Bolzano.
Tip: You may want to consult the Bolzano events calendar for evening events taking place on the square. Even with double glass windows it was noisy with a band festival one of the three evenings.

Steps away from the main Christmas market. We could actually saw the market from our room. Although the Christmas market itself is not as big as other cities/towns like in Nuremberg, Munich, Vienna, Zurich, etc. but the old town itself is very charming. Walking distance from the train station (less than 10 minute walk). We booked a comfort double room. The room itself is quite spacious. When we travel, we always ask for a room with no interconnecting door. This time we ended up with a connecting door to another room, however surprisingly we did not hear any noises. We're told the hotel was fully booked thus that adjacent room should have been occupied as well. Lots of closet space, mini bar, hot water kettle for coffee/tea, slippers, bathrobes, free Wi-Fi, air condition and a window that we could open. They have parking garage as well. Lots of shops and restaurants in the area.

This is a lovely hotel in the heart of the old city. The rooms are a nice size, clean, coffee maker, nice amenities. Little thing, but they do supply face clothes which is a nice touch. Breakfast is 5 star. The buffet is nicely presented, they make eggs to order, and serve coffee. Easy to walk everywhere. You can walk in about 10 minutes or less to the train station. The staff will get you orientated, and help with recommendations. We’d stay there again.

We had two rooms here as our first room was sold out for the last two nights. First room was a huge suite looking at the square. Second room was a split loft. It was fine except the beds are upstairs so you have to go down creaky creaky stairs in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. As with all European hotels, we Americans want to control the room temperature and hotels are very frugal with adjusting room temps. As energy efficiency is high priority. This is a good thing. Result is we we’re sweating in our room in and couldn’t get it to cool down after a couple calls to the desk. We felt silly and gave up. But why put a thermostat in the room when it is actually controlled by the front desk? Breakfast and staff are great. We would stay here again. It’s a lovely place. Bolzano is a lot of fun.

We stayed three nights in Junior suite overlooking the town square. We loved everything about the hotel. The room was large and comfortable and not too noisy. You are in the center of town with easy walking to shops and restaurants. Access to underground city parking with an elevator to hotel reception was perfectly convenient once you figured out the navigation in the garage. Just take a first left after you enter!!

Front desk were very helpful with suggestions for dinner. They made reservations at their 'sister' hotel restaurant Laurin just down the street behind a huge wooden door. We sat outside and the ambiance, food and service were terrific.

This was the perfect hotel for our hiking adventure into the Dolomites. Driving back to the convenient parking was so simple. And Balzano town highlights were there for you just outside the hotel door!

I had to double-check my paperwork, because Hotel Greif screamed luxury to me when we checked in. The hotel is beautifully located right on Waltherplatz, the heart of Bolzano, a quick walk from the train station. After a friendly check-in we were wowed by our room, which was the size of two rooms, with a few skylights, and a ladder to one of them. Remote controlled blackout shades made for easy sleeping. The beds were very comfortable, the TV was a good size and had a few English channels, the storage was amazing. The breakfast was the best I had in Europe, with a view that was amazing, and the breakfast servers were fantastic, making an effort to remember your preferred choices. I would go to Bolzano again, just to stay and eat here!

The staff was very helpful in offering tips on what to do and where to go. The breakfast was excellent. The bed was great. We had dinner at the restaurant in their sister hotel, Hotel Lauren. It was superb. This was a very pleasant experience. We will stay here again if we make it back to Balzano.

Bolzano is about a 30 to 45 minutes ride from the hiking trails in the Dolomites. Alpe di Siusi is the nearest place from where to start hiking.
