We were looking for a hotel that would store bikes securely in Old Town Bozen. The Figl was great. The bikes were secured away in an internal storage room and the hotel rooms were very clean. The staff was quite friendly and spoke English well.
We had breakfast onsite. It wasn't our cheapest option but we stayed our first and last night of our bike trip and stored luggage in their lockers (€20) so it was very comfortable and worth it for us.

Room Tip: On weekends in the Summer I'd ask for a room off the street due to noisy evenings.

Three of us cycling touring were very lucky to get a room for a couple of nights. Perfect cycle storage in the old cellar, very helpful guy on reception, all staff super attentive. Our room was all high quality with a great bathroom. Situated in the old town you cannot be better situated for exploring Bolzano's lovely town.

This was our second time at Hotel Figl and it was another great experience. Staff is so helpful and accommodating. Rooms are so clean and made up each day. Coffee is wonderful and my husband and I enjoyed wine most evenings in their bar/courtyard. Hotel Figl is in a great location and a short walk to the train station and shopping/eating.
We stayed in the apartment and it was plenty of space for our family of four. This is the only hotel we will stay at when in Bolzano. Thank you Frau Mayr.

Location: Fantastic location right on Piazza del Grano and a stone's throw from the main shopping belt, Piazza Walther, the Duomo, public transport including the bus stop for Merano. For those who arrive by train, the hotel can be reached on foot in less than 10minutes.

Rooms: The room we had was spacious, modern and clean. Looks like it has been given a facelift only recently. Love the bathroom which is sparkling clean and bright.

Service: No porter or room service. But the staff at the reception who double up as restaurant waiting staff are friendly and warm.

Plus point: Free use of computer with internet access in the restaurant downstairs. Just ask at teh reception.

We had tried to book the Hotel Stiegel, where we had been going for years but it was fully booked this year and they recommended this hotel. Our double room was Eur100 for the night so we didn't have high expectations but were very pleasantly surprised. The facade of the hotel is beautiful and the location perfect. Inside it is very unpretentious and practical. Don't expect to have your bags carried to your room or get room service. But the service is friendly and though the rooms have little character (especially compared to Hotel Stiegel), they are clean, modern, well-kept and quiet. We loved our stay here and added an extra night on.

The rooms at the Hotel Figl are modern and up to date. The building is old and faces the Piazza del Grano. An elevator is provided. Breakfast is provided for a fee. You can spend 10 Euro for an Italian breakfast, and less for non-Italian, which is about half. Forget the extra cost for the Italian. We spent the night of 27 October and returned again when we came back into Bolzano four nights later.

An absolute gem in downtown Bolzano and fabulous price to match. We just came back for 2 weeks in Italy. We stayed at the Menardi at Cortina D'ampezzo, Hotle figl at Bolzano and Pensione Accademia in Venice and Hotel Figl was by far the most outstanding and the cheapest. You can see pictures of the old building that had been completed gutted out and restored. The architect did a brilliant job of combining modern minimalism with the original antique tyrolean wood carvings. The hotel is a labour of love and encourage of the young owners who perserved the project for over 2 years while raising 2 young children. The website photos did not do justice to the rooms. We had a suite which was spacious, efficient and quiet. The beds were extremely comfortable and the down comforter warm and light. I checked out the standard rooms too and they were just as nice. Breakfast was more than generous and the fruits were so fresh. Everybody were extremely nice.. The only difficulty was parking in the nearest square and then lugging the bags to the hotel in the rain. It seems everybody has to park in this garage if they want to be right downtown. I suggest you map out the driving out well before you get into Bolzano.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Figl and would recommend it enthusiastically to anyone traveling to Bolzano. The location is extremely convenient to everything. We walked all over town and over to the funicular to go up into the mountains. The rooms are modern, very comfortable, QUIET (yes!), and absolutely spotless as noted by other reviewers. But, the most impressive part of all was the kind and thoughtful staff. My husband fell ill with a respiratory infection when we were in Bolazano. The manager not only found us an excellent doctor nearby who spoke English, and even offered to take us there to make sure we didn't get lost! We felt so fortunate to have someone so very kind to help us out in this situation. We loved this place, and you will, too.

I arrived in Bolzano on the train at 5:30pm and left the next day at 12:30pm, so I had very little time to explore the city. I chose Figl because of the good reviews I read, its relatively close distance to the train station, and its excellent location in the heart of the pedestrian zone. As a woman traveling alone, sometimes finding the right hotel can be a challenge, but Figl was absolutely ideal. It was very safe, staff were impeccably polite, and the room was clean and nicely appointed. As others have noted, finding the entrance was the biggest challenge - the door is to the right of the courtyard dining area and not obvious if you approach from the opposite side. I also agree that the bed was unusually hard, but noise was not an issue in the least, despite the weekend's spring flower festival that was taking place outside. Highly recommended.
