The Prinz Rudolf Smarthotel was reopened on 3 July 2020. The modern and functional new building nestles on a slope just above the city centre of Merano and was perfectly adapted to the landscape by a young team of architects. The hotel has modern rooms and suites, a large bar and restaurant area with terrace and its own large parking lot. The green and accessible roof of the house offers sunbathing possibilities around the two round pools. On the last floor of the house a modern SPA with 2 saunas and the large infinity pool with an unobstructed view of Merano and the surrounding area awaits its guests.

The Prinz Rudolf is a very special, different hotel. Our garden room was incredibly well thought out and detailed with all the amenities at your fingertips. Good housekeeping. Food and Beverage is outstanding. The Food offered is of the highest standards using local produce. The Breakfast Buffet is a special treat. Dinner offers a wide ranging à la carte choice and the pasta and pizza dishes are divine. An excellent wine list make the situation even merrier. The wellness area is relaxing with the infinity pool overlooking The Valley a highlight .The staff are friendly and professional. We stayed a week and appreciated being out of town. A 10 minutes bus ride takes you into the heart of Merano.
You feel this is a family run business. Last but not least , the hotel has high environmental objectives! God willing we will return in 2024.

A place to relax and enjoy the amazing view!

Is a 5 stars hotel, modern with professional staff.

This place has the biggest infinity warm pool in the area, modern spa, good breakfast, fine dining (master chef for each meal), modern rooms.
Definitely I will come back every year at least one time!
I recommend you!

We had a really good time in the camping place. Location is perfect. View is great. Reception personnel is helpful and always have smiling face. Common areas are clean. May be it would be nice to have a bit more space between the campers/caravans.

My wife and I came here for 5 days in June and were blown away by the photos online. The total cost was around $2,000 CAD an in all honesty it isn’t worth it.

The rooms themselves are beautiful, but be warned if you come here in the summer time when it’s around 30 degrees Celsius because the rooms don’t have air conditioning or a fan! Their simple response was “not possible” which seems to be a theme at this place.

When it comes to food also be wary about what you see online as the website is VERY unclear. They technically have two restaurants (pizza and modern dining) and you have to book them separately. They also have a completely different menu for lunch so if you want a hamburger for dinner, that’s not possible (see the theme).

Also if you want to add something to a meal (like chicken to a salad that doesn’t come with it) it’s not possible which genuinely makes no sense since they have chicken breast. Once again - not possible

You also can’t book reservations every half hour for the pizza part of the restaurant; they only have three times available which is really odd since they were definitely not overbooked when we were here.

You have to pay for breakfast (around 20 euros) a person and you can’t even get coffee before 7:30am as they literally block off access.

They have a beautiful spa, but you can’t go there unless you’re in a bikini and their provided robes; yet kids can run around screaming no problem….really zen.

They also have a sauna but you have to be naked and they won’t let you go in with bathing trunks. I completely get that Europe views nudity differently then North America but it should be my choice if I want people to see my dingle or not. The sauna also is only open from 2:30 to 7 so if you wanted to relax and loosen up your muscles after a long hike and you get here after 7 - not possible. They lock the doors to the spa and you cannot enter.

I’m going to see if I can order pizza to my room tonight so I can have some peace and quiet without kids screaming everywhere in a place that is supposed to be zen - but I have a feeling “it’s not possible.”

This place is marketed as a fancy romantic getaway, but there are so many rules you need to follow and you are told no so many times that it’s hard to want to stay here. For the price I would absolutely recommend going somewhere else where you know exactly what you’re getting.

We will definitely be back to the Dolomites but I’ll never be back here again.

We would like to add that you had booked a Prinz Suite with a magnificent panoramic view om Merano City. Our house is a climate house A, with ceiling cooling. The suites are equipped are additionally with an air conditioning unit because of the large windows. All rooms have a comfortable temperature between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius. The cooling is centrally monitored and the temperatures are recorded. We checked the period of your stay and an average temperature of 23 degrees Celsius was recorded in the suite you stayed in. For health and ethical reasons, we are not allowed to go below 23 degrees. We would also like to point out at this point that the cooling can also be regulated in the room, often the regulator is turned in the wrong direction, which causes the room being cooled less. As you correctly describe, our hotel has a restaurant and a pizzeria. We find it natural that 2 restaurants, which are not only spatially separated but also have completely different concepts and menus, have to be booked separately. Moreover, it is quite common in hotels of our category to have a different range of dishes in the restaurant at lunchtime and in the evening, and hamburgers are not part of our dinner offer. As you have noticed, the pizzeria was not overcrowded. This is thanks to the different booking times we offer in the pizzeria (18:30, 19:00, 20:30 and 21:00). This means that the restaurant is not too crowded and guests don't have to wait long. You booked via a booking portal and had to choose between a rate including breakfast and a rate without breakfast. You booked without breakfast. You wanted breakfast after all and we only charged you € 20,00 instead of the standard price of € 25,00. Perhaps you missed out on the small discount? We were really surprised by your comment that here guests are not allowed to enter the SPA area in street clothes! We assume that for hygienic reasons every SPA area may only be entered in bathing costume and bathrobe. In any case, we will not change this in the future! The concept of the Finnish sauna is that it is only used naked for health and hygiene reasons. This is not an invention of ours, but it has been proven that synthetic materials can cause serious sanitary problems at these temperatures. And finally, may we point out that although our hotel does not have room service, guests are welcome to use our take-away service and pick up your pizza and enjoy it in their room, which has certainly been offered to you by our staff. Otherwise, this option is also described on the information sheet in the room. Best regards Diego Cavagna

The suites are really cool, loved the setup as much as the view; amazing!!! The charging station für the car was not ready although I was inquiring before by e-mail. The infinity pool is more than stunning, hard to beat!!! However, travelling in this area and staying in 5 hotels we were not feeling the warmth that we experienced with the others... Maybe that's what they want as it's really a cool place....

Thank you very much for your visit. It's nice that you are so enthusiastic about our hotel. We have only been open for a few weeks and fortunately we are already very busy. Maybe at the beginning we were a little bit nervous....we are very sorry for that. Hopefully we see you again soon. Best regards from Merano from the Cavagna family and the whole team.

Formidable structure. Located just outside Merano but 5 minutes drive from the centre. We took the suite with the round bed which is super comfortable. However, the bathroom does not have a bidet (the reception staff were kind and honest in warning us of this before we even booked) but overall the room is spacious and comfortable. The swimming pool overlooking the mountains is something indescribable, it will leave you speechless. The breakfast is very rich and varied while for dinner (with the half board formula) you can taste 5 dishes also choosing any alternatives; the quality of the restaurant is truly remarkable.
Advised!

We really enjoyed our short stay at the Prinz Rudolf, as the location of the hotel (panoramic view!), the hotel itself and its facilities (rooms, breakfast buffet, spa area) really appealed to us. The staff (reception, bar, restaurant) were always helpful and super friendly. The food on offer (very large selection!) was delicious. There are also plenty of free parking spaces available at the hotel itself. What more could you want? Clearly recommended, especially as the location is an ideal starting point for hikes, bike tours or excursions.

Note: we cannot understand the extremely bad reviews in any way

Unfortunately, everything was very dark, almost a little oppressive. The pool could be 3-4 degrees warmer. A big compliment to the kitchen, everything tasted very, very good, even vegetarian, but you could be bolder with the seasoning. I missed the welcome drink.

We really enjoyed it at the Prince Rudolph except for a few little things. We would like to highlight the extraordinarily good dinner with the 5-course menus or half board! During the whole 5 days we always ate very well, the menus were great served and the service top! The wine list is also impressive - we were positively surprised by the prices - we would have expected such a hotel much higher.

The breakfast is great, there is a huge offer and again the food is all very delicious.

We basically liked the spa area, but the loungers inside are far too few - meaning in bad weather the warm infinitiy pool isn't much use if you don't want to disappear straight back into the room.

We see potential for improvement in the bar area and outside, where we each had to wait a very long time, although almost nothing was going on. If you paid more attention to the area, many more people would enjoy an aperitif after the hike or before eating.

As already mentioned it is a pity that the indoor area by the pool is so small - in bad weather you are not lying on the roof in the cold - a pity, so we could hardly use the actually good offer.
