Great room with a very modern design! Was very close to the waterbus stop and near quite a few of lovely restaurants. This hotel is very small, especially compared to other big chains, but you're wouldn't be able to tell. I did not hear or...More

Right from arrival til departure we really enjoyed our stay at this excellent small hotel. With only the 5 rooms it is very private and quiet. I found it quite by accident in an article about hotels near to San Basilio which is where our...More

You have a guest house feeling at this place. The owners and women who run the place are pleasant and accommodating. The place is a little run down and is at least a 25 minute walk from the major attractions. You can ride the Vaporetto...More
What a very classy little boutique hotel. Francesco was extremely helpful and booked a private water taxi for us from the airport. What a glamorous way to arrive in Venice! My new husband also requested a bottle of wine and flowers as a surprise for...More
Would have rated this as a 5 star apart from two unessacary incidents. On arrival we were told to WAIT whilst the staff finished watering the small plant that adorned the entrance. Sorry but when I have booked and had to haul baggage through Venices...More

Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob
in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.

I took the bus from the airport to the vaporetto hub at Piazzale Roma (Ple Roma). Then Vaporetto Route 5.1 which moves counter-clockwise around the island to the San Basilio station. Walk off the vaporetto and straight for four streets (? - I forget, but the Avogaria will send good directions to you in their confirmation). If you take Route 5.2 by accident, then you go the long way around to San Basilio. There are updated route maps at all the vaporetto stations. By the way, there is a good grocery store facing the San Basilio station. Let the Hotel arrange a taxi for you to return to the airport (buy a one way bus ticket to Ple Roma). Less romantic -- less Venetian -- but easier if you've been shopping!
