The good: It's in a great location. The rest is bad, the rooms have not much to do with the pictures you see on line, it's old , shabby and in need of renovation. On top of that, we were given a smoking room with our child. We were advised to "leave the Windows open, than it's not that bad"...

We visited Corte Dei Greci hotel in April this year. The hotel is in a great location within a short walking distance from St Marks and Doges Palace. The pictures of the hotel rooms must be very old as we felt the rooms were very dark and dated. We were in a party of 10 and we were all disappointed...

We made a last minute booking as the apartment we had booked got cancelled a week before our arrival . We paid considerably more because of that however my family of three was most pleased with the huge quadruple room we got . It's at the back of the hotel which is really the most stunning part. It's like living...

Room was OK. Small but clean. Nice canal views. Clean towels & toluettries provided daily . Decent breakfast but this was served on 2 floors & 1st floor was just outside our room !! Odd . Quite tricky to find (we got lost quite a lot) but good central location for sites. Would stay again as lots of bars &...

We spent 3 nights at this lovely hotel in March 2016. We had a lovely, large room on the 1st floor, with a little balcony. The bathroom was spacious and clean, with a great shower. Wi-fi connectivity was good. The staff were friendly and helpful, making our Venice experience really great. The location is also ideal. This hotel is definitely...

Stayed for 3 nights in April. Friendly and efficient welcome. Superior room had plenty of space and overlooking the nearby little canal. Bed was spacious and enough wardrobe and door space for our trip. Shower was hot and powerful with a large bathroom. Staff were great, good English speakers and seemed like they could speak other European languages too. Continental...

I stayed for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed using this hotel as my base. The location is excellent for getting out and around Venice (three minutes walk to San Zacarria boat station and five / seven minutes walk to St Marks Square). The breakfasts were simple but tasty. Those expecting to have an English breakfast (scramble eggs, bacon & sausages)...

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. We occupied one of the luxury double rooms in a part of the building that had been styled to represent a classical Venetian palazzo - which it probably was. A large room looking onto a canal with two nearby (communal) lounges - one with a balcony. The building carried the elegance. The furnishings...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
