Beautifully positioned, close to St. Mark's Square, yet quiet. Superior rooms facing the canal are charming. Rooms are big and very clean. Very helpful staff at the reception. Nearby plentiful of good restaurants.

Lovely hotel that was centrally located within walking distance of St. Mark's Square. The hotel is right on the canal. Rooms were what you would expect in Venice (small) but the atmosphere of the hotel was great. Nice staff. Small elevator. Great breakfast. Couldn't ask for anything more. I would definitely stay there again!

Nice little gem of a hotel located just minutes from St. Mark's Square, shopping, dozens of quaint, understated restaurants, including a fabulous authentic little wine bar/restaurant immediately next door, which is great when you arrive the hotel late after a long day of travel. The hotel has a subtle modern decor. The the rooms are nothing fancy, but they are...

This hotel was wonderful! The rooms were very large and the hotel is right on the canal. They even upgraded our rooms so we could have a canal view! The location was very convenience, just a couple of blocks from St. Mark's Square. And there are a few good restaurants nearby as well (including one with the best tiramisu I'd...

Great find. Centrally located and a 5 minute walk from St Marks square and easy to get around most of Venice. Room was nice sized - holding a family if 4 comfortably. Staff could not have been nicer. Even supplied boots for high tide.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon & were very happy with the experience. Lovely spacious rooms with clean bathrooms & a great location close to many great restaurants & easy walking distance to St Marco's square etc all for what we thought was a very reasonable price. Friendly staff, good wifi & adequate breakfast every...

We stayed here in July, we had 4 rooms, 2 of them had fireplaces, great design in all rooms, beautiful floors, location was amazing, 10 minute stroll from St Marks Square, the only downfall was they only had one small room for breakfast which could not accommodate everybody at the same time, but the rooms and the location were amazing....

We arrived in Venice, San Marco at night, and found the hotel with no problems at all. First impressions were very good as the building is very old and rustic, and it overlooks a tiny canal. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who handed us keys to our room. The room was spacious and very clean with a large bathroom....

Got off the ship and took a water taxi to the front door. Service was incredible and rooms large and elligant. Modern bathrooms. Our three rooms over looked a canal. Staff got up early to fix breakfast before early morning flight out. Could not ask for nicer staff and language not an issue. Good communication before the trip. Breakfast first...

Traveling with another couple we stayed at Hotel dell'Opera for 3 nights at the end of a two week Italy trip. We both had canal view rooms and were extremely pleased with the rooms. The canal was noisy in the morning but it was worth it to feel we were a part of Venice. In the early evening you could...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
