We stayed for 3 nights and found the hotel easily enough with the map / video provided. Really helpful and welcoming staff - room was excellent with necessary air conditioning. We enjoyed breakfast which had a good variety served as a hot and cold buffet in a charming room overlooking the square. Great central location in a quiet area. Will...

Ca Bragadin is a treasure. It is quiet, in a great location, very clean and the staff is wonderful. The continental breakfast includes eggs and other hot items. I highly recommend this charming inn to people of all ages.

If you're a quick walker like myself, 2 minutes from the Rialto Bridge and only 5 minutes from St Marks Square (providing you know where you're going). All staff that we came across in the hotel spoke fluent English and were very helpful in recommending what to do during the day and where to eat at night. I don't know...

I just returned home from a four night stay in Venice. I was so happy that my friend who lives in Venice recommended this hotel. My room was simple but clean and well appointed. The air conditioning was fantastic. They even made scrambled eggs that were fluffy and delicious. The location can't be beat…in the heart of Venice, yet in...

This was the second time, I stayed a the Ca' Bragadin Carabba in Venice, and it was a wonderful experience, once again! The hotel is located in the heart of Venice and you can walk from your Hotel to all the main attractions in Venice. It's a small and quaint Hotel, the rooms are a great size for Europe, and...

Stayed at Ca bragadin last week for 4 nights, paid extra to upgrade to a suite, which overlooked Campo Santa Marina. Nice room and very clean, a little bit noisy in a morning! Reception very helpful with our queries. Had breakfast on two mornings which is a bit pricey at 13 euros each. We got a water taxi ( a...

We have booked a double room economy (€150/day - no breakfast), and place we got was degraded dorm room. The pictures I saw and many of the descriptions I read while researching the place made it seem very elegant and good place to stay. The walls of our room were cracked, mold all over, the bed very uncomfortable and hard....

As part of our holiday we took 2 days out to visit Venice & found this B&B to be exactly what we were after. The directions sent through from them got us to the door with no problems from Rialto bridge. our room was ready even though we were there a little earlier than check in time. It is a...

We spent 3 nights here and were very happy with our stay. Excellent directions from the hotel got us straight to the door from Rialto, the staff on reception were always very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Room clean and nice, good bathroom and shower. Location of hotel ideal - close to Rialto and all the major sights but...

Excellent location: right in the centre of Venice and just 10 minutes from Rialto and airport transfer station... But at the same time quite calm district... Very good staff. Small tip for those who are frightened by messages about difficulties in finding the hotel: don't use the map which is published on the hotel site or sent with the reservation:...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
