Cheaper than the Danielle and Gritti with a quiter location on the otherside of the Grand canal. Unfortunately doesnt get as much sun, but you are away from the crowds here. Very warm welcoming staff, lovely room, good quality baths showers and soaps. Great views from some of the rooms. Very quiet ideal location. 5 minute walk from bridge at...

Arrived early and the Centurion Palace team was accommodating with an early check-in for us. We were very grateful as we arrived from Hawaii. Great European rooms with views overlooking the Grand Canal. Best feature was the attentive team at the SINA Centurion Palace. Fendi, Ilauria, Nicoli from ANTINOO'S made us feel welcomed and special in their hotel. Brava e...

We picked the Centurion Palace because my wife wanted a hotel with Gondolas parked outside! Anyway we stayed for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. Hotel staff we found to be attentive and approachable and the service exemplary. We did have a minor issue over a trip that we thought had been booked but apparently hadn't in this instance...

This was the 4th time we've stayed at the hotel and it is fantastic! It is a beautiful building with spectacular views of the Grand Canal and a team who do everything possible to make your stay wonderful. A luxury experience in every way, it's perfect for a honeymoon, special trip or brilliant holiday. Tracey and Mark

This was the last stop on our Italy adventure and it did not disappoint! We upgraded to a jr suite with canal view - which was so perfect. Some of my favourite photos from Venice were taken from my hotel window. The hotel greeted us with a bottle of champagne and strawberries in our room. It was so lovely. Will...

This is a nice hotel! It is right on the canal. The room we had was small and looked onto a brick wall. It was one of the lower priced rooms. Everything was clean and neat. The breakfast is nice and there are a few seats outside. The hotel also offers a nightly boat to the square which is helpful....

We chose this hotel as we believed every room looked onto the Grand Canal, which it doesn't. We mentioned to reception we wanted a room onlooking the Grand Canal and it was sorted within half an hour. Our bags moved and new keys issued! Amazing place to stay in Venice. Off the beaten track, but a very good location. The...

We stayed in a superior room on the 6th floor. We had Grand Canal views through two side windows which was not expected....... it was great to have the views - most enjoyable watching all the activity on the canal. The room was a reasonable size, the bed comfortable and bathroom functional. The decoration was good. The buffet breakfasts were...

The hotel was lovely and we had one of the suites which was nice but had issues with the shower not draining and flooding out into the living room, this appeared to have been an on going problem as all the paint was coming off of the tiles at the entrance to the bathroom and they were peeling up. Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
