Firstly, getting a hotel in Venice is usually a compromise. To get a nice place costs LOADS! So finding a decent place on a budget was tricky to say the least. Most places are advertised as Venice but in fact are on the mainland and you then have to travel in & out. This would be a 3 out of...

This is a good place the crash while you're seeing Venice, but not much more. The lady there is very nice but doesn't speak English. However I found we were able to understand each other with a little arm flailing, so it's not too much of a problem. The rooms are clean, the bed was incredibly creaky but still comfortable...

The lady looking after the place doesn't speak any English, which made checking in/out etc. a little awkward, but not impossible! The owner contacted us via email before when got there, offering to meet us at the closest ferry stop and take us to the b&b, but when we got there they didn't answer the phone... We had to find...

From the moment we found this place on Trip Advisor to the moment we stepped off the vaparetto, we felt that we made the correct decision. That is when our minds were changed drastically. Reviews are great but reality is better. BE AWARE that the owner, and the person that you will be corresponding with on email and phone, is...

Had a great time in Venice and this hotel is a great place to base yourself. Our room overlooked the canal and the hospital which is a good focal point to find your way back to the apartment.

Initially Almoro B&B might be hard to find, but following the instructions given, we rang when we reached the station and were met at the canal stop by a staff member who led us to the B&B. from then on, we found our own way around quite easily. If you don't want to stay in a big ritzy hotel, then...

Al Moro B&B" is very well located, splendid and, is only 5 minutes walking from Piazza San Marco. The service is excellent. We had a room overlooking a small canal. It's about 5 minutes walk from the F. Nove boat stop.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
