Andrea and Theresa at reception are exceptional people. They are knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions and advice. The place is clean and well equipped. The placement can not be any better, 50 meters from San. Marco square. We fully recommend it.

Really good hotel with an exceptional breakfast. The coffee is just the best. Also the lady who looked after breakfast was just so pleasant and charming, The hotel is sandwiched between Prada, Chanel and Louis Vuitton and about a minute max to piazza san marco I had the smallest room in the hotel which was fine and it was also ridiculously...

Great location though pulling 2 big rolling suitcases over the steps of a canal bridge is a bit of a struggle but it is not far from the Alilaguna dock to the hotel. Very close to St Mark's Square and scores of ridiculously expensive shops. It's so close you can make multiple visits to the incredible basilica. The hotel staff...

Must be one of the best located hotels in Venice if you want to be based close to St Marks. The Firenze is a well maintained and friendly hotel with staff who make you feel really welcome and have a wealth of local knowledge that they are happy to share with you without being too in your face. The rooms...

We had a pleasant stay here in October '16, but we need to record that the rooms on the top floor are very small. Yes, okay, they have balconies, but try negotiating a small bedroom with two cases while it rains on the balcony outside. The beds are hard and the hard pillows made me throw them as far as...

The location is superb and the staff were incredibly accommodating and caring. Special thanks to Teresa, Andreas and Michael who went out of their way to assist us when illness affected our holiday. This venue, steps from San Marco Square, is very historic and quaint, and offers a lovely rooftop terrace.

I'm certain plenty of reviewers have already told you that hotel is a 1 minute walk away from St. Mark's Square. Yes, very convenient, but if you want to escape the madding crowd; this hotel is quiet enough to allow that, also. We had a room on the 3rd floor, away from the street, which was very restful. The room...

Step off the vaporetto at San Marco Vallarssa and you are literally a couple of minutes walk to the front door of this charming hotel. Just off a lane of high end shops and around one corner to San Marco square you are in the heart of the tourist action. This is a small traditional hotel, immaculately clean and tidy,...

Hotel is very close to a vaporetto stop and just a few minutes walk to St Mark's Square and the Basilica which makes it convenient for sightseeing in that area. It's in a designer retail area and there is a lot of foot traffic late into the evening around it. I opted for a single room and the twin bed...

Hotel Frienze was a very charming, comfortable hotel. Front desk staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. The bed was comfortable and room was very clean! Roof terrace was beautiful during sunset while enjoying a Bellini. We loved the location, so close to San Marco Square but very quiet. Only complaint, breakfast...American coffee was room temp and terrible, I didn't care...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
