We visited Venice with my gf for 3 days and we stopped at Alessandro's B&B which was a great little place hidden from the noise of the streets around, yet very close to everything you wanted to see. It is 100 meters from Gran Canal and about 4 minutes walk to the nearest water tram. The rooms are very nice...

This B&B exceeded our expectations for Venice accommodations. The host is terrific and the location can't be beat! It is just a 5 minute walk to the Mercato Rialto vaporetto stop and Alessandro meets you there and helps you with your luggage. The B&B is on a very quiet street and we enjoyed strolling around the San Polo neighborhood which...

This B&B had very fair price considering the average of Venice hotel and b&b. It is in a great location: central, possibility to walk everywhere and close to ferries stop. Nice, welcoming and helpful owner and staff. Nice rooms, maybe sometimes bit noisy cos of the thin walls.

The atmosphere in the B&B was really good and as it is perfectly situated we walked the town completely until we felt totaly tired. The room (one of the suites) was perfect and the breakfast great. Alessandro was very nice and he recomended us so many restaurants where venecians used to eat. Our experience was fantastic.

After walking in the rain from the train station we were warmly greeted by Alessandro. Our rooms were comfortable and very clean. The highlight here has to be the hospitality of the manager, who did whatever he could to make our stay in Venice enjoyable. The breakfast was excellent and probably the best we had on our european vacation.

This is one of the best B&B's we have ever visited. Alessandro had to work hard from the start as we had difficulty receiving email confirmation of our reservation. We knew by others to book early and he was very persistent in helping us secure our reservation. He provided excellent directions and suggestions for getting to the B&B, but was...

We had an amazing stay with Alessandro at this beautiful B&B. Alessandro is helpful, kind, and a wonderful resource when traveling in Venice. We enjoyed morning talks with Alessandro as he served fresh and delicious breakfasts. You can't beat the location; it's a 2 minute walk from the Rialto bridge, quiet enough to get good sleep at night, but a...

My family of 4 stayed in 2 rooms, one of which had a Jacuzzi tub. The location is great, just a few blocks from the vaparetto stop. Alessandro was a great host, recommending restaurants and making dinner reservations for us. Both meals were great. Would not hesitate to recommend this B&B to friends

We are seasoned travellers to Venice, having visited La Serenissima many times, but not having been there for 10 years; thus we were interested to see how much had changed, and how much had remained the same. We were delighted, therefore to discover this little gem of a B&B, tucked away from the busy & bustling Rialto market area. We...

My husband and I stayed at Ca'Barba B&B in early June for 3 nights. I found Alessandro to be very polite, helpful and efficient from the moment I first made enquiries. He gave us excellent directions to get to his B&B and also offered to meet us at the Vaporetto stop. We found our way from his map no trouble...

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.

Ca' Barba, a few steps away from Rialto, is quite special. Jacuzzi baths and showers in each bathroom. Vintage, restored furniture. Original 19th Century pictures of Venice.
