Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.

This is a great choice to stay at in Venice. Walking distance from the main train station Santa Luzia and just across the street of Vaporetto 2 which takes you to the Grand Canal. No more 30 minutes (very nice walk) to San Marco square. All this, without the trouble of carrying

Very new hotel right beside the bus terminal of venice. Clean, quiet, well managed. Decent but expensive breakfast buffet. Moden design is a good break after spending the day in the loveliness of venice. Highly recommended.

How frequently does the bus to the airport run?
I agree. This hotel is so convenient to the bus stop and the train station. You will be so glad you stayed here and not down on the canals somewhere. The breakfast is very good and make sure you enjoy the new patio.

The hotel does have air conditioning. In brand new and very modern inside. It has a cafe offering breakfast as well as lite meals. Also it has a bar. I am not familiar with the Dock but I can say the hotel is located in a plaza which is the only access to Venice by ground transportation and a a walking distance from the train station. There is a walking bridge that you have to cross walking from the train datarían to the hotel. Also within walking distance are all the main ferry terminals and a sky train to the main Cruise Port. There is no better accesible place than this hotel in Venice.

We are coming in from a cruise. Can we walk from the cruise ship to the hotel? Or what is the easiest way to get there from the ship?
You take a water taxi

How much is the breakfast at the hotel?
I believe it was around $15-19/each; can't remember exactly. It was just OK; it was convenient. Perhaps you can plan ahead and enjoy a delicious breakfast elsewhere; the hotel breakfast isn't really memorable, at all.
