We stayed two nights at this B & B while visiting Venice. Just 5 minutes from the Guggenheim, this is a quiet spot away from the hustle and noise of other Venice areas. It really felt like we were in a neighborhood of "real" people- kids playing soccer, a man shooting hoops, two women talking across the way from their...

We went there on our honeymoon and were rewarded by Silvia and Francesco's warm hospitality and good humour. It's a lovely spot away from the tourist crowds with many good restaurants within walking distance. Francesco's breakfasts were excellent with home-made pancakes and other goodies. It's close to a Valparetto stop, but make sure you have a decent map as it...

My husband & I stayed at B&B Dorsoduro 461 in mid September 2011. This was our first time in Venice, and since we only had one night to spend there, we thought we should splurge a little bit for a room by the Grand Canal/Rialto bridge. After all, the canal is what makes Venice so appealing! Alas, we could find...

I am so glad I found this B&B! In this lovely B&B you feel like you have your little Venetian spot close enough to be a few minutes from the main attractions (Piazza San Marco, Accademia, Rialto) and far enough from the absurdly crowded tourists areas of Venice. The B&B is located in a quiet, residential area of Dorsoduro (Accademia...

I stayed at Dorsoduro 461 for 5 nights in May and was totally satisfied with the accommodations, the location, the hosts, the food - everything. Francisco was a delight, always helpful and a great cook. I looked forward to reakfast every morning. Silvia was out of town while I was there so I only got to meet her briefly, but...

Origianlly we found this accommodation on Tripadvisor and were assured by the reviews that it would probably meet our expectations. We were not disappointed. From making the booking the owners were communicative and welcoming. The location on Dorsoduro could not be more central, yet tucked away in a quiet corner, where local families live. Francesco and Sylvia were excellent hosts...

We could not have asked for a better B&B situation for our first trip to Venice. Our goal was to find a B&B that felt like it was really a part of the neighborhood, and we found just that at Dorsoduro 461! Francesco and Sylvia were fantastic hosts (ask them about their fascinating restoration work!) and were very easy to...

Although we walked sround in circles as the door numbers are very different in Venice- the warm welcome at the BB made up for this. The room was great size, nicely decorated and best of all the breakfast was prepared to our liking in the morning. Great location, proximity to the grand canal and Guggenheim. Staff was extremely helpful, provided...

We stayed in this superior Venetian B&B for 3 nights. What makes it 'superior'? The decor, including books in every corner, the delicious breakfasts and interesting conversations as well as the thoughtful room service made our stay memorable. The establishment is centrally situated - handy for the Accademia and the Guggenheim - yet quiet.

Just back from a 2 night stay in Dorsoduro 461 and would highly recommend it. There were no roadworks, the only noise we heard was a clarinet student from the music school opposite! There were mosquito blinds fitted so we didn't have a problem with them, and breakfast was a wide choice of cereal, toast, cheese, fruit and yoghurt, with...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
