This was hands down the best hotel we stayed at during our 13 day trip to Italy! Though the hotel is tucked around a corner (and we nearly walked past it upon arrival) the location was great; close to a couple vaparetto stops and Piazza San Marco. The front desk staff was also pleasant and helpful. Our room was beautiful,...

I absolutely loved staying at this hotel. It was set away from the noisy areas so it was a peaceful retreat. The interior is beautiful and very representative of Venice. At the end of each day my friend and I enjoyed relaxing in the courtyard with a nice glass of wine. The staff was outstanding in every way. Each day...

I cannot recommend Palazzo Paruta highly enough. This was by far the best hotel we stayed at during our thirteen day holiday to Italy, mind you, the other hotels were not bad. The concierge was always very polite and helpful, in fact, the entire staff was completely customer centered. The staff during breakfast and tea were the perfect mix of...

Palazzo Paruta has been a marvellous surprise: great location, just a few mins walk from the S.Angelo vaporetto stop and from Piazza S.Marco and with sumptuous true-Venetian style rooms and an elegant all marble bathroom. We found an excellent service and ambience, a delicious and abundant breakfast with fresh crepes done for you on request by super-professional signor Giuliano. The...

Both my partner and I loved this Hotel. We booked a deluxe Room, and it was everything we expected, the staff were extremely polite and always glad to help. For a small hotel I was amazed at how many staff were there. In a beautiful location by a small canal on a bridge..... what else do you want it's Venice...

Just back from a fantastic 4-night stay. We splashed out a little extra on the bigger junior suite in the hotel (room number 151 is the red junior suite) for my partner's birthday and it didn't disappoint! The 16ft ceilings were amazing, as was the magnificent chandalier and huge canopied bed. Our windows looked out onto one of the small...

We stayed for short break in Venice. The hotel is in a good location, but does require a little walk from the canal. Breakfasts were good, but service was a little slow. Rooms clean and well presented. Would recommend, but wasn't blown away.

This hotel is amazing !!!! I booked two rooms, one for myself and one for my family. Out of all the hotels we stayed at this hotel is the most amazing. The staff speaks English , and are the kindest people ever . They have an amazing breakfast in the morning. The two men (one has curly hair and one...

Excellent location, very polite staff. Prefer to book asuperior double because some of the rooms are really small with low ceiling, a bit uncomfortable. Overall it offers a true venetian experience!!!

We stayed for three nights at the Palazzo Paruta in a superior room. This had a lovely canopy bed, high ceilings and a new bathroom (shower only). The bed was very comfortable, not too firm and not too soft, and we both got an excellent night's sleep. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the St Angelo vaporetto stop....

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
