We were delighted with our accommodation. Fabio was most helpful and generous with his time. The location was great because it was very close to the train station and the water taxi which took us to the airport. Breakfast was generous and coffee was good.

This is a great find. Fabio the owner is relaxed and very helpfull. The room was clean with all you could want from a B&B. His mother was very hospitable and our stay there was relaxed and easy. This place is just 50 meters from the vapporretta stop as well as the "Alilaguna" stop from the airport so there is...

Fabulous B & B and not just because Fabio owned it. We stayed 3 nights. It is very well located only 5 to 10 minutes from the railway station. It was in a quiet area with a view of the canal, even from our room which was in the side alley. The alley had a nice water fountain which was...

The Guglie was all we hoped it would be, a lovely view of the canal from our room, clean and well appointed. We were welcomed by Fabio who took our cases up and gave us a map and some info on Venice. Breakfast was fine though we bought some fruit to augment it. The hot wate was a bit excentric

Le Guglie offers excellent value for money in an expensive city. Great location - 5 minutes walk from the train station and in a really lovely local neighbourhood (edge of the Jewish quarter). Lots of excellent bars and restaurants on the door step (away from the usual tourist traps) and it's only a gentle walk away to Rialto bridge and...

We stayed for 2 nights here. It is located very near the train station, about 5 minutes walk. It is not that difficult to find if you keep a lookout for the street name. Fabio welcomed us at the door when we arrived and we were able to check in immediately as our room is available. Our room is the...

Le Guglie was in a great position in Venice, not far to walk from the train station and on a canal with close access to the Vaporetto stop.We stayed 4 nights and wished it was longer.Even though it's on the canal, the double-glazed windows and shutters cut out any noise plus it was lovely to watch the early morning traffic...

I was there with my teenage daughter. The location is great- 5-10 min from train station, so if you do not have lots of luggage you can walk there, but there is also a vaporetto (water bus) station on the corner if you need that. (Also, you need to go up steps to any of the rooms). The buildings is...

We booked last minute and fell on our feet with this BnB. The location is fantastic: five minutes away from the train and bus stations meaning you don't have to lumber your suitcases over countless bridges, but also very central to the museums and beautiful centre. The BnB is in Canareggio, which is gorgeous in its own right but also...

I was looking around for an experience in Venice; one that will allow me to stay at a B&B to learn how locals lived; and Le Guglie came up, although not much reviews was done in TA, i managed to find plenty across other sites. I manage to booked 2 night with Fabio (17 & 18 April) and upon arrival,...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
