Noting really compares to Europe if you want an old school romantic break, but nothing could be more sophisticated and elegant than the Cipriani. Of course it is aware of its own status but the staff were all perfectly helpful and accommodating - it avoids that overt air of superiority that many hotels in this calibre can suffer from. No...

Despite the unfortunate cancellation of my Orient Express trip in June 2014, I decided to book a two night stay at the Cipriani before embarking on my Queen Elizabeth Mediterranean cruise. I had arranged a boat from the hotel to meet me at Marco Polo airport. Unfortunately, the day I flew was also the day of the French air controllers'...

After we chose Venice for our wedding, there was no hesitation in choosing a hotel. Cipriani is the most gorgeous place in the city. Perfectly located on the island, it has a romantic garden for the ceremony, separate broadwalk with stunning views of the canal for the reception, and an absolutely fantastic and somewhat gothic ballroom for the dinner and...

We arrived exhausted at Venice Airport after a long haul flight from Australia where we were met and taken to a nearby waiting Venetian water taxi. We both immensely enjoyed the 40 minute journey which meandered through an extensive network of canals and waterways to arrive at the Cipriani. The water taxi journey from the airport while pricy is a...

This hotel is something spectacular. After we came there we find out how many movie stars have been there. It is just describing Italy as it was once with amazing service. If you have money go to this hotel.

After a short water taxi ride from the railway station where the Orient Express ends in Venice, you arrive at the private island and jetty of Belmond Hotel Cipriani. You are met by the porters who make certain your check in goes without a hitch. The name is well known around among the worlds top luxury hotels. The grounds are...

I have been lucky enough to stay in many of the best hotels in the world but in my humble experience I would have to rate the Belmond Cipriani as my No 1 - the service is beyond 7 star and I can totally see why George Clooney chose this this for his wedding. The views from all the rooms...

I stayed here as a child fifty years ago, came back forty years ago and again this summer. We didn't stay here this summer (too pricey for us), but you have to take hotel's taxi and go for drinks or dinner. It is still an amazing hotel with superb service and attention. We sat by the pool and had a...

Wonderful hotel. Staff is great, food is great and it is beautiful. Its like having your own private island in Venice with a water taxi waiting for you at all times. If you are younger than 70, skip the glass and lace tour. Definitely eat at Caps and know that shorts are not allowed at Harry's bar.

Beautiful hotel with almost everything perfect. \Use this venue for anything really special. Only disappointment was the Breakfasts and the Dinner in the main outside rewxstaurant. The smaller restaurant at the back of the hotel is lovely, food, service and quality, first class

Staying in Giudecca

Neighbourhood Profile
Giudecca
Giudecca is a retreat for Venetians away from the crowds. Symbolically, six metal teeth represent Venice’s six sestieri (districts); the seventh, Guidecca, points away from the others – part of Dorsoduro, but separated by the Giudecca Canal. Giudecca evolved from a center of shipyards and factories to a quiet residential area with a sprinkling of restaurants and bars. The majestic harmonious Redentore church stands as thanks for delivering Venice from the plague, hosting an annual heartfelt festival.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
If Venice is a theatre, Belmond Hotel Cipriani is the Royal Box. It is a resort: a way of life, an island apart, in every sense. And it involves all the senses that make a stay unforgettable. Five minutes by private launch from St. Mark’s Square, on the tip of the Giudecca Island, Belmond Hotel Cipriani is in the heart of the city but removed from its hustle and bustle. Its 95 rooms and suites are exquisitely decorated with magnificent views over the open lagoon, the gardens and St. Marks. A day here is made up of layers of wonderful experiences, from luxuriating beside the Olympic-size swimming pool (the only one in central Venice) to relaxing with a signature treatment at the Casanova Wellness Centre. The Casanova gardens offer an oasis of peace, perfect for a Thai Chi session before heading off with a private boat for a personalised excursion in the lagoon. Choose to dine at the new Oro Restaurant for a timeless dining experience or at the iconic Cip’s Club admiring the view on St. Mark’s. Sip a signature cocktail at the Gabbiano Bar or enjoy a light lunch at the Porticciolo Restaurant. A red-clay tennis court, a gym and dedicated Kids' Club with pool are also available. ... more   less
