San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

This is one of the very best locations to stay in Venice and its a nice hotel overall with good breakfast. Main drawback is that rooms are a bit on the small side and there are no real twins so If you don’t mind sleeping side by side even if you are father and son or whatever

Arrived an hour ago for a special 70th birthday treat and they say they are over booked so have put us in a dump down a side street. I don't want to sit down or get in the bed as gruesome. Can't tell you how upsetting and disappointing this is as my children saved hard to send

Dear Guest, We are really sorry about the situation you found at your arrival, yesterday evening. It shouldn’t happen but unfortunately, for unforeseen circumstances, we had to face an overbooking situation. Our management worked hard trying to arrange the best solution and finally we thought that the alternative location offered could have satisfied your lodging needs. Palazzo Selvadego is a real 4 star hotel located only 50 meters away from us, right at the entrance of St. Mark’s Square, in the middle of the historical centre. We can understand that reasonably you were too upset to appreciate the real quality of the services offered. Again we are very sorry about this unexpected experience that doesn’t represent the level of our usual customer service. We hope you will give us another chance to let you change your mind on our hospitality. Best regards

This is a review of the bar only. While the location is in the middle of the action being waterside with gondolas and water taxis going everywhere, the cost of beverages is over the top - 7 euros for a coffee, 9.50 euros for a coca cola and 9 euros for water!! While most

Dear anne3212015, Thank you for choosing our bar. As you appreciated, we are in the real heart of Venice and we face the St. Mark’s Basin, with the Basilica della Salute and the islands of Giudecca and San Giorgio right in front of us. As you sit outside, at a table of our terrace, the menu is clearly shown. Please consider that our prices are much lower than other bar in the historical centre, even if they are located in 4 or 5 star hotels without a terrace on the Grand Canal (by the way, price for a coffee in our terrace is 5 euro). Smoking outside is possible but of course we have also a no smoking area. We invite you to visit us again, we’ll do our best to improve your experience. Kind regards

….might be the guiding principles for many in choice of hotel and here the Monaco has a full house, being right at a vapareti stop, next door to Harry’s Bar and but a hop and a skip from St Mark’s Square, if you are the hopping or skipping type and a short walk if you are not.

Yes, they do. They were very accommodating with me. I checked in dropped my bags and explored. The restrooms by the terrace are large and make it easy to freshen up if needed. I really enjoyed the spaciousness and convenience of “The Monaco”. Have an amazing time!
