Beautiful hotel, including the room. Room not huge but very well layout. Extraordinary varied buffet breakfast, including eggs. Arrived late and the restaurant was closed but they prepared lasagna and had it in the bar. Good gesture. The only negative perhaps our fault was that I did not understand the directions to the hotel and went up and down the...

4 star all the way- location (right on a canal), close to bus service, charming restaurants nearby, breakfast buffet so huge with fresh pastry that you'll skip lunch. Service and rooms are first rate. It was our first visit, but not our last.

We stayed for four nights recently and were extremely pleased with the service and accomodation. We had a corner room with a balcony on level 4, overlooking the canal. It was fantastic! Breakfast was good, with lots of varieties. My wife loves the strawberry yougart. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and the food was ok. Service was impeccable!...

Great hotel and simply beautiful room looking over the canals and two sides and church across the small square opposite. Hard to remember a more beautiful setting. Great food options nearby for breakfast and dinner so no need to eat at the hotel. Staff offer good solid recommendation of local restaurants that were all winners. Easy to get to and...

Just returned from staying 4 nights at the Hotel Papadopoli in Venice, Staff were friendly, helpful, efficient, hotel was clean, location was excellent, bedrooms, bathroom were great, food was 5 star, we could not fault our stay. Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
