This is a most beautiful Venice hotel. We had the Grande Canal luxury room with exquisite views. The hotel has a lovely ambience and great staff. We loved the breakfast room and the lovely food. The location is great. Would thoroughly recommend.

An old beautiful hotel on the grand canal. Close to the boat stop and a few minutes walk from the main sights yet quiet and discreet. We had the room at the top of the hotel (in the picture on trip advisor) with 2 windows overlooking the grand canal. Clean, quiet and comfortable, this room is very large and spacious....

Gorgeous traditional hotel right on the Grand Canal. Very clean & large Venetian historic rooms. Our room was on the ground floor overlooking the canal, was beautiful. Wonderful quiet area in walking distance to all main attractions. Very easy to get lost, but thats the fun of Venice. Breakfast was crowded & as we were late risers, not much to...

Loved our stay here & the history of the place. Our room was directly looking out on to the Grand Canal. The hotel is central to either end of Venice & a short walk to Rialto Bridge. Had no trouble arriving from the airport & the vaparetto stop was close by. Venice is not a huge place & it's easy...

Oh my gosh... Like in the movies... When the music suddenly comes from nowhere at the appropriate moment; in this hotel I sat in the window looking over the Grand Canal and suddenly a soprano started to sing "O Mio bambino Caro" How does that happen? This is a charming and romantic hotel of antiquated Venetian splendor with very obliging...

Old style hotel in the Venice tradition. Very clean and quiet with large rooms. We had a Grand Canal view and it was unbelievable! Close to water taxi station (you still have to cross a few bridges with luggage but not bad). Internet worked great. Staff was very nice and they offer luggage storage. Hotel also has downstairs bar on...

We booked this Hotel as it seemed well recommended. So the good stuff first. 1- OK position on Grand Canal 2- Authentic (That's a nice way of saying old Venice) 3- Good front desk staff Now the not so good stuff 1- There are NO lifts! The stairs were so steep as well and I'm not unfit. We were on...

My family of four stayed at San Cassiano Ca'Favretto for 2 nights as the start of our Italian vacation in August. A water taxi from the airport would have been easier to arrive at the hotel, right of the canal, but probably 10x more expensive, so we took the water ferry to San Stai station. It's not very far, but...

My two daughters and I have just returned from a wonderful stay at Hotel San Cassiano. The boutique hotel was brimming with old Venetian elegance and the staff were warm and so helpful. The location was perfect as it was easy to walk to all areas but was quiet and away from the crowds. Our room was very comfortable and...

I loved this hotel! The staff were fantastic and couldn't do more for you. Central, but initially hard to find. Very clean and quiet. The breakfast room is small but lovely. My husband and I had our two children with us. Our room had two bedrooms and one bathroom. I would recommend this hotel!

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
