Stayed here for the first time (5th visit to Venice) in Dec 2019. We visit every December, booking through the British Airways January sale due to our tight budget. BA dropped our usual, much-loved hotel from their list for 2019, so we settled for the Montecarlo. We had walked past it many times and liked the look of it, though feared its San Marco location could give it a tourist trap factor. Delighted to have been proved very wrong indeed. Staff are very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Our room was a good size and very comfortable. Breakfast was great and there's a bonus of afternoon tea: lovely cakes, tarts, biscotti, hot & cold drinks, even a tiny ice-cream machine. On our last morning, we took advantage of the generous offer to residents of a free return trip to Murano on one of Venice's beautiful, elegantly retro water taxis, plus a fascinating tour of one of Venice's oldest glass houses, Fornace Cam.

BA have now dropped Montecarlo from their sale list for 2020 but we enjoyed it so much and the prices are so reasonable for the standards it provides that we intend to stay with them again this year. Many thanks to Fabrizio & the rest of the team for making us feel so welcome - can't wait to see you again in December!

- [ ] We stayed here mid September 2020. Really great location, 1 min walk to St Mark Sq, 5 min walk to Rialto.
We stayed in room 106, which was a standard twin with ensuite. Room was nicely furnished and good size for two people and it was spotlessly clean!! Plenty of hanging space and storage. Curtains blocked morning light very well and aircon was effective.
Negatives - our shower was hard to get a good temperature (neither boiling or freezing), plumbing was noisy from other guests flushing in the night which woke me up numerous times unfortunately. There was also a bit of a damp drainage odour when the extractor fan was not on in bathroom. Aircon also very noisy! Would have been a bonus to have a safety deposit box in room although I think behind reception they had one you could use. Also there were quite a lot of mosquitos visible in the room and we both received quite a lot of bites - accept this may be an issue wherever you stay in Venice.
Breakfast was very good! Large variety of foods available eg bacon, eggs, pancakes, croissants, bread, cheese, ham, tomato, cereals, yoghurt etc. Staff serving us during covid19 regulations were very helpful and friendly. Guests were supposed to give a rough eta as to when they would be down for breakfast to limit the number of people in dining room at a time. We didn’t find this a problem.
None of the negatives were a huge issue and we really enjoyed our stay here!
A great location to explore Venice.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Montecarlo. The service is absolutely wonderful : very attentive, very professional. We had a very early departure and they had prepared a bag of food for us since we would not be able to take advantage of their breakfast buffet. Breakfast buffet which was great by the way.
The room is small and old-fashioned but if you come to Venice hoping for modernity, you are in the wrong city... The bathroom is pretty small and cramped so if you are on the large size, this type of room is not for you.
The bed was the downside of this hotel. The feet were on some sort of springs and it felt like moving on a trampoline. The TV selection was mediocre. However, the WiFi was fast.
We are very attentive to the eco-friendliness of places and there is work to be done here such as replacing the mini bottles of shampoo and body wash by large refillable ones. Or adding a couple of hooks to hang your bath towels in order for them to not be changed every day. A recycling bin would also be a good idea.
But all in all, we absolutely recommend this hotel !!!

We stayed here two nights in February. The men at the front desk were very nice and helpful. They arranged a private boat to the airport for us at a reasonable cost. The rooms were very small. There was so much perfume/deodorizer in the rooms it gagged me when we walked in. We had to keep the windows open at all times so I could breathe. It was almost unbearable. They would clean each day and spray more deodorizer, ugh.
This was also the only hotel we stayed in that had carpeting on the floors.
The breakfast was good and plentiful.
They also had tea and snacks at 4 pm which was nice. But don’t fill you water bottle here or they will charge later as I found out. They have a very small bar area where we could sit and enjoy wine. The hotel is in a good location that is walking distance everywhere. If we returned to Venice, I would probably stay somewhere else next time. Rooms are in need of an update.

I would like to say nothing but good words about this hotel. Room was clean, nice and cosy. We booked directly on their website it’s cheaper and also you get a bottle of Prosecco on your arrival. The hotel is reasonable priced and is a minute away from San Marco square so the location is perfect. The staff was very nice especially at the reception. I would like to highly recommend it!

This hotel has a great location being only 3 mins walk from st marks square. It’s tucked down an alleyway and quite hard to find.
It’s very old fashioned! Very dark wood throughout don’t don’t expect modern anything
Quick check in process and pointed in the direction of our room in the annex
We had the room at the top, 509 so 68 steps later!! The walk up there is roasting
The room is very dated with darn wood throughout. Low ceilings even in the shower. The air conditioning is quite loud and the blinds don’t open as they were faulty.
No idea what would happen to us if there was a fire !
Staff were friendly and polite and as part of the stay there is a free water taxi to Morano which was good.

We have just returned from a four night stay in Hotel Montecarlo, it is an amazing hotel in a very central location, just 2 minutes walk to Saint Marks basilica.
The hotel is very clean, the bedroom was beautifully decorated and comfortable.
Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.
Breakfast was included with our stay and it was delicious with a selection of croissants, pastries, cereals and hot bacon and eggs it really set us up for a day of walking and discovering this wonderful city.

Stayed here for 4 nights to celebrate my 60th birthday. The Hotel was beautiful I couldnt fault it with lovely little extras like prosecco with breakfast ,complementary afternoon coffee tea cake and biscuits and a free trip to see Murano glass being blown. Will definitely be going back.

As known beforehand, most hotel rooms located in historical center area buildings are quite small. That's why even few square meters more gives better options. At this hotel it was exactly so. As it was out of peak season there was not too much tourists walking around. And the best was location just a couple of corners to walk and you found yourself in middle of market square - San Marco. Staff in this hotel were very friendly and all service well done.

This was the best hotel out of four hotels that we stayed at during two weeks in Italy. It's not expensive, and the rooms are private and spacious, the bathrooms are spacious and nicely finished, the TV and WiFi worked perfectly and the staff is friendly and nice.

It’s also located in a convenient location near lots of great restaurants and bars, and sights to see, and felt very safe. Overall it was a great experience and we would stay here again.

I don't remember there being one. As accommodating as they were, I can't imagine that they would not make every effort to make one available. We had a great stay there. If we ever go back, I can't imagine staying anyplace else
