The only positive thing about this hotel is the location. It is very convinent from waterbus, take the stop to San Marco square, head toward the Basilica, make a left at "American Grill" and you're a few yards from the hotel. Great if you are pulling luggage around. Once you get to the hotel, however, you'll find the hotel is...

We have just returned from a 3 night break at this hotel and would thoroughly recommend it. It is just behind St Marks square and so convenient whether using the vaporetto or walking in Venice. Everything is to hand in the area. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel facilities excellent. I would give this a higher...

There are no less than nine Best Western Hotels in and around Venice, so make sure you know where you are going! This one has an excellent situation down a narrow calle (the Venetian word for road) just 50 metres from Piazza San Marco. Most of the thousands of visitors who flock to Venice are day trippers, but actually staying...

Large very clean rooms close to St. Mark's. Breakfast buffet very good, with something for everyone, the room in which we had breakfast was decorated like the Orient Express very pleasant. Surperb coffee. Conceige very helpful as were all staff, really made an effort to make you welcome. No doubt would stay there again.

We were diverted here after being overbooked in the hotel Noemi (see related review! ) and have to say we think they did us a favour. This hotel is right next to san marco, and we have a massive, air conditioned room. Great selection for breakfast too. The very helpful guy at reception also called the hotel Noemi for me...

Front desk personnel were lovely. They were very welcoming and accomodating throughout our short stay in Venice. They helped with reservations, and directions, and also provided free internet usage with a computer that is located in the "breakfast" area. Rooms were delightful! Very Venetian style, with good size bathrooms. TV had many channels (only CNN was in English, but we...

We had two rooms in this hotel for our visit to Venice in June. One of the rooms was recently renovated, well airconditioned, and nicely decorated and had twin beds for our kids. The second room was the opposite, run down, hot/muggy, and is desperate need of an upgrade. We spoke to the reception desk and they offered to move...

We took a family trip to Italy and Venice was the first stop. We wanted to be close to the square....and this hotel fit what we thought we wanted. The front desk was fantastic and very helpful. They were very accomondating for early check in, late check out bag storage, making tour arrangements, and made good restaurant recomendations ---(ask for...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
