After reading all the negative reviews I was very sceptical and kept my expectations very low, however I was pleasantly surprised! It's a lovely hotel in a fantastic location literally a few feet from the Saint marks square. We stayed for Five nights. The room we stayed in was a decent size which had the standard safe and refrigerator. Styled...

Me and my partner stayed in the Albergo San Marco over our 3 night city break. The hotel rooms were simple, comfy & very cheap considering the perfect location. The hotel is situated literally next to St. Marks square and only a short walk away from Rialto. You couldn't ask for any better. The breakfast was fantastic with a large...

Venetian style rooms . Newly fitted modern bathrooms. Very close to St Marks Square . Less than a minute to the centre. We had a room by the canal which was quiet apart from the amazing sound of the Bells from 7 am . Wonderful way to wake up.Breakfast is continental and plentiful. Yes it can get busy at peak...

Let's be honest, the hotels in Venice are expensive. We booked this hotel for the price, so we didn't expect much. The rooms were ok, we got 2 bedrooms with one bathroom ( all in one). It was clean, comfortable beds, and some privacy since we were traveling with our 2 kids. The breakfast was horrible compared to the breakfasts...

It was my first time in venice with my girlfriend. We didn't know that it will be our worst trip ever.  At our arrival, we headed directly to the hotel. We got the room number 388.  First, the room was tiny and smelly but we got used to it. It smells like if the last time it was aerated was...

Stayed here for a weekend with my mum the city is absolutely beautiful but the hotel looked like it could do with a refurb. Breakfast area was tiny we couldn't even get in there the whole 3 mornings we was there, the beds were extremely uncomfortable and we was kept up all night on our last night by drunks at...

Venice is beautiful in the winter time. I wear jacket but was sunny and no wind. This hotel was very good. And personnel was helpful. The room was like in the story. I feel like in ... Venice. I recommend this place and this hotel. :)

Decent hotel at an excellent location : just a few steps away the Piazza San Marco. The rooms were cozy and comfortable, decorated in typical Venetian style. The views of the Venice streets were amazing. Finding the hotel was extremely difficult. We were lost in a maze of alleys in search of the hotel. This is because the entrance is...

Nice room and great location. But disrespectful, unhelpful and arrogant staff. The breakfast was very good but they had very poor customer service at the reception. Compared to the amount of money for the price I expected much better attitude.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
