Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Venice is such a special city and this is a special little hotel. Located right on the canal and very close to St. Mark's Square. The room was beautiful. It was a little small for the four of us but we didn't mind. The staff was great and very helpful with recommendations

The location of this hotel was perfect. Very close to the water taxi when arriving so we didn't have to take our luggage very far at all (a big bonus since it was raining). The water taxi stop is Zaccaria. The staff was very helpful with restaurant recommendations and the

Great little hotel on small side canal located very near St. Marks Square. Easy walk from water taxis and to all historic areas of the city. Staff was welcoming and accommodating and more than willing to help us with logistic issues. Gourmet breakfast buffet held in dining area

Thank you all the information will be very helpful
we fly in about 2pm what is the best way to get to hotel
You’ve received lots of great advice. Airport signage for water taxis and busses is excellent. Covered walkway to Watertaxis about 5-10 min walk. Option 1: Bus 5 to Venice ad Water taxi 5.1 to San Marco then 2 min walk to hotel. The route is on the Hotel’s website or email them and they can describe in detail. Not sure the cost. Option 2: Follow signs To Water taxis. Take Blue line Vaporetto to San Zachariah stop. It’s about a 50 min trip. Short walk to hotel. € 7.50 cost per person. Option 3: Most expensive but fastest. Private water Taxi. About €50 . We used great free app called MapsMe to navigate Venice. Use data/ wifi to download map of Venice then no need for data /wifi to use. It was perfect way of getting around!

"Request a room away from the bar."
"In places like Venice, it is always a great idea to choose an upgraded room category. The comfort is worth the price increase."
