Arriving at the hotel, we were greeted in a pleasant little lobby by a very nice gentleman. That's the extent of the positive things I have to say about this stay. The very nice gentleman told us he would have to take us round the corner to our room. Bit weird, we thought, but ok. Turns out that 'round the...

The hotel location is perfect for travellers and tourists. Its just 3 min walk to san marco. The F/O is nice while cheked in and out. The breakfast is so weak ( just yogurt and some croissants) the house keeping is so rude. I find my pijamas and clothes under the bed! The rooms were too small, bathrooms are too...

We only stayed here for a night and it's in a really good location. Few meters away from the San Marco vaporetto stop and from St. Mark's Square. Nothing special about the place, just a small clean room to sleep. Toilet was clean and looks newly renovated but the ceiling of the shower is too low, so if you are...

Pros: *Great location! Less than a five-minute walk to the plaza. *Breakfast included Cons: *Weird room location -- not part of "main" hotel *Inside was very old and outdated looking *Room smelled like mildew the entire time we stayed there We traveled to Italy on our honeymoon in October 2016, and Venice was our first stop! We were just there...

Hotels location is great and hotel itself is nice, we was given a room out the back of the hotel down a dark alley way, the room was small, (you can't even walk around the bed) the boiler is very loud and kept us up most the night. The staff are lovely and friendly, we mentioned the boiler issue to...

Centrally located off San Marco Square, Venice. Our room didn't have a view, but was very near the church, where the fabulous bells sounded each morning. The room was adequate, with a very comfortable bed and quiet, unless the window was open to enjoy the bells! Bathroom newly renovated. Breakfast was basic.

Location - Good location Firstly we was taken to the back of the hotel in alley to get to the room so not really in the hotel, and the rooms were dingy and dirty, room was not as described, and the bathroom smelt of sewage several times in the day, there was no safe in the room as advertised, and...

Have stayed at this hotel before, I returned again with my family primarily for the great location and previous experience which to be fair was clean & a reasonable hotel. Unfortunately the hotel has recently changed management/ownership and standards have significantly dropped. The only thing that I can say is still as good, is the location (2 minutes from St...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
