The hotel is on a small side street very close to the train station - about 3 minute walk. My room was very large by European standards. The furnishing had an old world charm which was exactly what I was looking for. The bathroom was rather small which is not unusual for European hotels. The room was always spotlessly clean....

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderfully welcoming hotel for 3 nights. The rooms are spacious and exceptionally clean and the hotel staff are extremely polite and accommodating to every detail. The hotel is ideally located near to the bus station with links to the airport and within walking distance to everything in Venice. It...

We stayed in this hotel last night and will again tonight.... it is AMAZING. It's small but spectacularly clean and the staff (especially Sabrina) is just fantastic. They are incredibly helpful with directions, boat taxi stops, anything you need on your stay etc. Last night my adaptor stopped working and the woman on the night shift went above and beyond...

On your first visit to Venice, this is ideal. Location is perfect and the breakfast was great. The staff are very friendly and the red haired gentleman at breakfast was very helpful and pleasant. All the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. Such a pity we only spent 2 nights in this beautiful place, but we will be back.

Only disadvantage there is no lift. If you have a heavy luggage you got to bring them up the stairs. Friendly and helpful staff. good coffee. Continental breakfast. Awesome location just next to the train station.

I was very satisfied with my 3 night stay at this boutique hotel. It is close to the Piazzale Roma and the Santa Lucia railway station. Just over the bridge and a 3 minute walk to the hotel. The front lobby personnel are professional and polite. The room was small, but comfortable. The breakfast area was nice and warm. I...

We stayed here 3 nights. This hotel is 5 minutes walk from the Santa Lucia train station, which is a great draw. The hotel doesnt have an elevator, so do request a lower floor if you have heavy suitcases. The rooms are relatively small and clean. Airconditioning helps (in winter and summer) The hotel staff are very friendly and will...

This is the motto of this hotel, that makes you feel at home..and it delivers! Right from the reception at check-in and during your whole stay all the staff (including the owner) is very nice and welcoming. Although small (without elevators) it has a very cozy atmosphere and the room is silent, well cleaned and with a beautiful decoration. There...

Great location, 5 minutes walking from train station, and right in front of the bridge entering historical Venice city. Staff very friendly. Breakfast good. Rooms little bit small, but confortable. Wifi might be improved : little slow and sometime difficult to get connected. On overall, nice place for 2-3 nights. I'll be back for sure.

Close to train station, shops, restaurants. Clean, nice breakfast (great cuppachino) and friendly staff. Owner around to keep an eye on things. Feels like staying in someone's house, definately an 'Inn' and not a hotel. I booked a single standard room - very small with bathroom even smaller. I don't think a big person will fit into the shower. Pillows...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
