I stayed with my husband in Locanda di Orsaria for three days and was an excellent choice : the breakfast was excellent (the best in our europe trip) and the location is so convenient, you dont have to carry the luggage over Venice cause is only a few steps from Bus Station and Train Station. The Cappucino that the owner...

I don't normally write these but after a fantastic stay I felt compelled to write a review. We met with alot of rude Italians though this not being our first trip to Italy we weren't surprised, however the staff at this hotel were fantastic, friendly and welcoming. The guy who serves breakfast in the morning is brilliant making the best...

We stayed as a family of 5 during August. The hotel is in a great location near the train station (didn't hear any trains), water taxi and water bus stops, very easy to find. The hotel was very clean, and the breakfasts were lovely, staff were helpful. Don't go to Venice in August though, too hot and too busy.

We had a fabulous stay AGAIN at hotel Locanda di Orsaria this summer. We stayed there last summer and felt spoiled by the hospitality and location. You will get to know Sabrina at the front desk and very quickly find that her concept of customer service is 100%. She acts both as a receptionist but also as a concierge. She...

This was an excellent hotel. The nearness of it to the train station was a definite asset. It was literally walking distance, around the corner. I was not much relishing getting onto a water taxi with all our luggage so this was great. The water taxi station was right outside the hotel so it was easy access to getting around...

Very close to station. Very nice and helpful receptionlist. They spent time to show us where to see. We arrival early so we asked to put our luggage in the storage room then went out for sight-see. We like the custard croissants for the breakfast.

Just returned from three weeks in Europe. We had a difficult time finding a reasonably priced quad room. La Locanda was able to accomadate us, and proved to be a good choice. The location is great, as it was walkable from the train station, as opposed to having to carry your luggage onboard a water bus, or taxi. You will...

I highly recommend this hotel. Room: very nice. Considering Europe, our room was big enough, exquisite decoration, nice and comfortable bathroom. Staff: they cannot be nicer. They are very professional and helpful. For example, without asking they were very proactive with whatever you would like to know. Location: you cannot be wrong with this location. I have been before in...

My wife and I stayed here 4 nights in June 2009. They treated us very well. Staff was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Room was clean with private baths and safe. Great location. Close to train station and bus station. Close to water buses, taxis, etc. No shortage of restaurants, walked and took Vaporetto everywhere. Nice breakfast buffet, adequate with great...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
