We stayed for four nights at the end of our three week tour of northern Italy. Booked here based on other Tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. The location is great - a short vaparetto ride from Troncetto multi storey car park - very easy to find. We loved our room (decorated in true Venetian style complete with Murano...

A lovely little hotel right off from the Grand Canal and a block away from the train station. The room was typical european in size with a very nice clean spacious bathroom. Without a doubt, the Best breakfast we had in Italy!! Would recommend to anyone who wants to spend several days in Venice without paying a huge hotel bill....

Lovely small hotel with very good location. We stayed in a family room with one double bed and two single beds. Room was clean and big enough. Breakfast was good and the staff very friendly. Only few steps to railwaystation and Piazzale Roma so you dont need to carry your luggages a long way.

Great hotel ideally located, just two minutes walk from the train station and close to the waterbus stop. Staff very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean with a modern bathroom. Excellent breakfast (the cappucino is really delicious!). Would highly recommend!

Locanda di Orsaria (which is much more of a hotel than a B&B, by the way) was a convenient 2-minute walk from the train station upon arriving in Venice. We were very glad that it was located a ways down an alley, out of hear shot of the Grand Canal madness. Our room (# 205) was on the third floor...

We stayed 3 nights at this lovely little hotel tucked away off the Grand Canal. Te Location was perfect for us. We arrived , by air into Marco Polo Airport. Then we took the public bus to the Piazza Roma and walked to the hotel( about 5 mins). It is also a 2 minute walk to, and from the train...

This is an absolutely LOVELY B&B in Venice. We stayed here for 2 nights before our Greek Islands cruise. The hotel is VERY close to the Piazza Roma, where the buses and trains enter Venice. If you arrive by train, there are no bridges to cross and only a short (<100 meter) walk to the hotel. If you arrive by...

My wife and I stayed at Locanda di Orsaria for 2 nights after having spent 10 days on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean. The hotel is very nice and quiet due to the fact that it’s tucked away in an alley and not on the Grand Canal. Although our room was small, it was comfortable and well appointed. The...

This small hotel is within walking distance of the hotel and the main bus station (which has direct transfer to the airport). Only a few stairs stand between you and this hotel (whch is important since you need to climb stairs on many bridges to get anywhere in Venice unless by water.) There are several Vaperetto stops close by. My...

If you are coming into Venice by train to the St. Lucia station, this is the place to stay. It is literally around the corner from the station and right off of a main walkway full of restaurants, shops and easy access to the vaporettos. The staff was extremely helpful and stored our luggage as we arrived early in the...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
