This Hotel is handy near Piazza Roma. Be warned, all those bridges you see in Venice have steps they are not smooth bridges. Taxis or buses can only leave you at the Piazza Roma, the rest around the canals needs to be done either by boat or walking. Nothing is too far but if you are carrying luggage there is...

We chose this hotel because of it's proximity to the airport and to the cruise port.. The wirte ups on TripAdvisor was another reason that helped to make our decision. We were NOT disappointed at all. It took us about 24 hours to reach Venice and another hour and a half before we got to the hotel. When we reached...

We were welcomed with a free drink ticket for prosecco. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. This place is close to the train and bus station making it a great choice. (You don't want to be lugging luggage over lots of bridges). We had a very early flight and they packed a nice breakfast to take with (just make sure...

We chose this hotel because we were leaving on a cruise ship after a visit of four days and it was recommended for cruisers here on TripAdvisor. Once we arrived at the Marco Polo Airport we bought two 7 euro one-way tickets on the ATVO "Blue bus" to the Piazzale Roma as recommended by the hotel. After a short wait...

We booked this hotel for its proximity to Piazelle Roma (the central bus station in Venice) I was nervous about booking a hotel for this trip, as I had heard horror stories about dragging one's luggage around Venice, up and down bridges, etc. When we stepped off the bus from Marco Polo (6 Euros each way) and saw the sign...

What a fantastic staff and lovely outlook over the garden. All the staff work extremely hard to make your stay stress free. I would definitely go back there. It is situated close to the transport hub, so convenient to catch an onward bus, water bus etc.

I booked this hotel for a nights stay during a motor bike tour of Europe with a friend. The hotel is ideal, great location. I emailed ahead to request parking information and was sent a link to the nearest garage to the hotel, very useful. The man whom checked us in was a good laugh and knew how to treat...

Checked in a received a free glass of wine to welcome us. Everything is in walking distance. I would recommend getting a taxi...

We stayed at the Best Western Olimpia for two nights in early October at the end of our anniversary trip and would definitely stay there again. The hotel is located close to the Piazza Roma which made it very convenient for us to get transportation to the airport for our 7:00am flight home. Both the hotel and our room were...

The Olimpia is in an excellent location in Sante Croce. It is close to the train station and the bus station. It is also close to the Grand Canal and the main walking routes to The Rialto and the Doge's Palace. Nearby there are excellent restaurants and the Dorseduro area which is a quieter part of town full of interesting...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
