We stayed here for two nights before our cruise. Although it's an old building, it's thoroughly modern inside with an elevator. The room was nice and included a safe and fridge. The breakfast was included and everything was pretty good. Freshly brewed coffee and fried eggs were available with the standard European fare. It's located right off the Piazelle Roma,...

This hotel is almost completely remodeled. The location is excellent - it's a 5 min walk from either the train or bus station. We stayed in the new part of the main hotel which has all the modern conveniences you would expect. Breakfast was really good with plenty of choices. The hotel staff was wonderful and very helpful with all...

We have just returned from our trip to Venice and we stayed at the Santa Chiara annexe, Residenza Parisi. This was budget driven - of course we would have loved to stay in the main hotel with a Grand Canal view but we could not afford that. However, we did our research and knew exactly what we were getting so...

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in April this year. Our room was great - overlooking the Grand Canal. The bathroom had everything one would need and ask for and even surprised us with hot bath towel racks etc. The breakfasts were good, the hotel staff outstanding. If you are going on a cruise this...

I guess, I should chose the main hotel, instead of their residence parizi which located 150 meters from the main hotel. The residence it self have a good sized room but an odd design, bathroom shower don't have a separate glass door. They dont provide electric kettle in room, and no air condition at all. The main hotel has a...

Buongiorno! I'm sorry you didn't like the room you booked. In every website there are pictures (recent ones!!!) and description of all the feature of the room. Pictures show very well how the rooms looks like. Also in the description there's no mention of any kettle (in fact we don't have them). The air conditioned is available in every rooms...

Great room with exceptional amenities I didn't even know existed. The location is perfect with bus, train, taxi, water bus and water taxi only a few steps away on the Grand Canal; the airport is a quick 20-30 minutes drive by bus or taxi. You can get to any location on the island by taking the water bus or taxi...

What a delightful surprise! A beautiful hotel, good sized room beautifully and tastefully decorated, large bathroom, beautiful walk through closet area, many automated amenities. Staff very helpful. They explained how to take the water bus that stops very near by, (take #1 or 2 to Saint Marks Square), where to eat an early dinner nearby (F30 across the bridge). A...

Where to begin, when we booked, they never mentioned the "other" or annexed hotel. So you can only imagine our surprise when we checked in at the hotel we thought we were staying in and were then led down the street and into an alley in what appeared to be an old apartment building. The furniture, beds, linens, carpet were...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Santa Chiara is situated in an ancient and more than 500 years old palace facing the Grand Canal. We are in Piazzale Roma (the only driving point of Venice), we are facing Bus and Waterbus stops, we are facing the train station (on the other side of the Grand Canal) and we are very close to the cruise dock. The location is unbeatable!!! And we are the only hotel in Venice with a private parking place (underground, please pay attention, it's not always free!!! Usually the cost is 35 euros per day). If you don't wanna carry your bags up and down the bridges of Venice we are the right choice!!! The new building, a modern and elegant white marble construction, is now open as well!!! The rooms can be in the historical building, in the new construction or in the annex located 150 meters from the main building. You can book the location you prefer by choosing the right room category. The rooms in the main building (historical part) are furnished in Venetian style, and many overlooks the Grand Canal or the water. Every room has air conditioning and heating, telephone, TV, minibar, safe, wifi. Bathrooms are equipped with shower. If you wanna book these rooms you will have to choose the standard or the superior category. Many of these rooms are big enough to accomodate 4 people!!! The rooms in the main building (new part) are a little bit more modern, much bigger and with a bigger bathrooms. These rooms are Deluxe or Deluxe with Grand Canal View. Every room has air conditioning and heating, wifi, minibar, tea and coffee machine, telephone, TV. All the bathrooms (except the single rooms) are equipped with bath and radio. Some with separate bath and walk-in shower. The rooms in the annex are 150 meters from the main building. All of them are very big and all can accomodate 4 people. Every rooms has the standard for the wheelchair! They are equipped with heating and air conditioning, minibar, safe, telephone, TV and wifi. Porterage service is always included and they are connected to the main building by phone. Check-in, check-out and breakfast (when included) are in the main building. Common areas are big, elegant, and the most of them are overlooking the Grand Canal. So you will have the chance to enjoy that view even if your room doesn't!!! We have been awarded with the International Quality Trademark ISO 9001. ... more   less
