Ok... so you think you're staying at a 4 star hotel, however down the canal (approx 2 blocks) there is a 3 star building that they own. Not only were we staying in this three star building (that we weren't aware of) but we were in a handicapped room on the first floor. Definitely confirm you are in the main...

We had a wonderful 2 day stay at this hotel post cruise. The location couldn't be better for access to both the airport and cruise terminal. We stayed in the main hotel, which has been re-decorated and re-modeled. Our room was lovely, very comfortable and modern. Although the room looked down over the very busy piazzle roma, the soundproofing was...

Stayed here for a week and were made to feel very welcome by the staff! We were given advice on where to go, mum got a bottle of wine on her birthday and the room itself was stunning! The hotel was right next to the ferry and bus station so travel was easy and it was also a short walk...

I have visited Santa Chiara in October 2016. We choose to stay at Residence Parisi, which is only 100 metres away from the main building, but is very comfortable, clean, especialy for families. We didn't have breakfast, but there is small super market in the entrance of the building and you can find everything. The reception was very helpful and...

What a super hotel. Close to the Cruise Port, ideal for people coming of cruises. One stop on people mover and just cross the square. Very helpful Alexandro who very happily stored our luggage till our room was ready. We were able to check in at 2pm and we had a wonderful room in the new building with views up...

The hotel is in a great location right on the Piazzale Roma bus interchange. We were able to catch the bus from Marco Polo airport and just walk to our hotel without having to carry our luggage over the many bridges. We only stayed one night, our loss, but had a lovely room with ensuite. It was quiet even though...

Picked it because it was close to the train station and the port. I walked from the cruise ship left bags and took a train for the day to Vicenza. Came back spent the night, then grabbed the ATVO bus in the morning outside the front door on Piazale Roma and headed to the airport. The location is perfect for...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Santa Chiara is situated in an ancient and more than 500 years old palace facing the Grand Canal. We are in Piazzale Roma (the only driving point of Venice), we are facing Bus and Waterbus stops, we are facing the train station (on the other side of the Grand Canal) and we are very close to the cruise dock. The location is unbeatable!!! And we are the only hotel in Venice with a private parking place (underground, please pay attention, it's not always free!!! Usually the cost is 35 euros per day). If you don't wanna carry your bags up and down the bridges of Venice we are the right choice!!! The new building, a modern and elegant white marble construction, is now open as well!!! The rooms can be in the historical building, in the new construction or in the annex located 150 meters from the main building. You can book the location you prefer by choosing the right room category. The rooms in the main building (historical part) are furnished in Venetian style, and many overlooks the Grand Canal or the water. Every room has air conditioning and heating, telephone, TV, minibar, safe, wifi. Bathrooms are equipped with shower. If you wanna book these rooms you will have to choose the standard or the superior category. Many of these rooms are big enough to accomodate 4 people!!! The rooms in the main building (new part) are a little bit more modern, much bigger and with a bigger bathrooms. These rooms are Deluxe or Deluxe with Grand Canal View. Every room has air conditioning and heating, wifi, minibar, tea and coffee machine, telephone, TV. All the bathrooms (except the single rooms) are equipped with bath and radio. Some with separate bath and walk-in shower. The rooms in the annex are 150 meters from the main building. All of them are very big and all can accomodate 4 people. Every rooms has the standard for the wheelchair! They are equipped with heating and air conditioning, minibar, safe, telephone, TV and wifi. Porterage service is always included and they are connected to the main building by phone. Check-in, check-out and breakfast (when included) are in the main building. Common areas are big, elegant, and the most of them are overlooking the Grand Canal. So you will have the chance to enjoy that view even if your room doesn't!!! We have been awarded with the International Quality Trademark ISO 9001. ... more   less
