Stayed here for 2 nights. Was disappointed when I saw the room was small and the carpet was really dirty. Could atleast provide a complimentary slippers or change the carpet. The staff was nice though, spoke good English. The cleaning staff literally just knocked once then recklessly open the door while I was naked inside the room. The location was... More

Hotel staffs were very good.Good Location, close to train station. It's a 3 star hotel, but service was good . Good value for money. The only downside is hotel is not visible from the main roads. But it's only few mins walk from the station.

Staff could be a little more helpful.. seems as though they always had better things to do than help their customers. And no outdoor space. Cleaning staff walked in while my husband was getting dressed without knocking.

Convenient being close to the train station, it is approx a 20 minute walk from the main square. The original room we were given did not have a shower, we requested to change rooms and they did so for us the next day. Pillows were rock hard. Wifi worked well. Overall a pleasant stay, just make sure you request a... More

We booked this hotel last minute after some trouble with the previously planned hotel. We were impressed with the large room, plenty of space and good Air Conditioning. Breakfast was lovely and staff were polite. Everything was close by, food less than 10 mins from hotel. Transport is also close by however we made the most of things by travelling... More

Good location for walking and near station so donor have to go far with luggage. Difficult to find at first but okay after that. Bed good but terrible pillows. Excellent breakfast include which is good since it is an expensive place to eat otherwise.

We picked this hotel due to proximity to the cruise terminal in Venice. We wanted the experience of being on the island, without the expense of several forms of transportation from the airport and then to the cruise port. We got in early but had a long flight. We were grateful that our room was ready early. The room was... More

I say surprise because the reviews I had read were mixed .From my point of view there was no need, found the hotel very clean, staff first class and the breakfast very good and plentiful soon replenished if needed. Bacon and eggs, boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt's, and all the usual continental types. For me the location was perfect with all... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
