Having booked the Graspo de Ua before reading the personal reviews, I was very glad I did read them because it meant that I was pleasantly surprised. My daughter and I arrived late at night and had been given a Superior room on the fifth floor (no lift): we did have to carry the luggage ourselves, but on our departure,...

The room, "a suite junior", was very very small and very expensive, also it was dirty and old, and the staff was very unfriendly and bad-mannered. All the rooms are in the hightest floors and it hasn`t elevator and it has steep and narrow stairs, and. Also I stayed 7 days in this hotel and nobody cleaned my room (the...

Before setting off I was a little worried about finding the hotel but is was simple enough. For those of you that have yet to experience the Graspo -get off the water bus at Realto Bridge. With your back to the Canal look left no more than a few metres and you will find next to cafe a very narrow...

We stayed at Graspo de Ua for three nights in July 2008. The rooms are small and the hotel is very small. There is no view from the windows. The breakfast room feels like an underground bunker. All of that is tolerable, but what makes us recommend that you avoid this hotel is the staff. The staff is quite unhelpful...

We are surprised to read this revue after 6 months. We also can not understand the reason why the clients has taken advantage of the services of the Hotel for 3 days without saying nothing to us or complaining to us Regarding the Hotel all our rooms are standard size for a 3 star Hotel in Venice. As well as...

I have to say, after reading the reviews, I was a bit worried and tried not to expect too much - but I was positively surprised and definitely recommend it! The receptionists were nice and helped us whenever we had a question about Venice and transport. It's true that there is no elevator but when we arrived, a servant came...

We booked this hotel the same day we arrived in Venice. This hotel has two parts. Some of the rooms are within the same building as the front reception and there are others adjacent to this down a slightly scary narrow street with a gate that you must get buzzed in through. The room we stayed in was next to...

Came here for a nice, romantic, weekend summer break in 2005. The hotel was hidden down a very narrow street, exactly what I wanted and expected from Venice! We arrived very late at night and it was so surreal and fun walking through all these little streets in the dark, but we found it with no problem. The hotel was...

I'd totally agree with KS! What a fantastic surprise after all those bad reviews. We had our fingers-crossed right until we'd got to the room. We had a wonderful time at Graspo de Ua. We went to Venice in April and it rained every single day. It was so nice to have a warm cosy room with a clean, newly...

Our two-night stay at the Graspo da Ua was part of a (super-cheap!) EasyJet holiday. The low price of the package, and some damning reviews on TripAdvisor, meant our expectations were correspondingly low, although to be honest we've travelled a fair bit and don't faint away if an inexpensive three-star hotel in an old European city has modest-sized rooms, a...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
