Thank you for a great stay! Everyone at the hotel is so friendly and helpful! It was an easy walk from the train station, even with my large bags. Another plus is the many water boat and transportation options right outside of the hotel. Getting to the airport was super easy as well; the hotel arranged a recommended porter who brought my bags to the Plz Roma express bus to the airport for 5 euro per bag. He was very friendly and helpful as well (and needed to cross the bridge with stairs).

The hotel is super clean and my room was spacious. I had a room facing the street walkway which had some noise but I didn’t mind. After 4 weeks in Italy I was very accustomed to it. I will certainly stay again during my next Venice adventure!

I got an amazing last minute. Me and my friend only paid 35 euro each and the place felt like a luxury hotel. There was a lovely tea, coffee and cookie bar with a nice selection of teas. I was sick during my stay and the staff was very considerate and attentive. The hotel breakfast had the best selection I've seen at a hotel, including dairy free and gluten free options. The room was very clean and comfortable. The common areas were beautiful. There was a very nice historically decorated sitting room and an outdoor terrace.

Lovely hotel sited very close to the main station in Venice. Set in an ancient Abbey, it has plenty of old world atmosphere. Ground floor superior rooms are excellent and roomy, with wood panels and soft wall furnishings. Breakfast in the courtyard garden and then straight out to the nearby Vaporetto stop to go anywhere in Venice very easily. The concierge was very friendly and helpful and overall costs were reasonable for this quality.

The good -
Location is great. Easy walk from airport shuttle or train station. Close to many restaurants and boat bus stop.
Room was large, clean and air conditioning works well.
Building is historic

The bad -
Beds are HARD and bedding and furniture are worn.
Bathroom products are gel soap and shampoo, refilled in generic bottles and seemingly the cheapest they could obtain in bulk.
There are a lot of steep stairs and no elevator. Not handicapped, elderly or heavy luggage friendly.
Court yard is dirty. Lots of gnats and mosquitos. It appears they don't sweep or wash the cobblestones where breakfast eaters drop crumbs.
Breakfast hours are 8-10. Forget about a coffee before an early tour. They berate you if you enter the breakfast room off hours to get a coffee or tea. There is no place in the hotel to buy a coffee.

I'll return to Venice this summer, but I'm going to stay elsewhere. A comfortable bed, a water view and a higher consideration for guest needs can be had for the same price at dozens of hotels.

On a positive note, this hotel is super convenient when arriving in Venice. You can access from the taxi/bus lot (literally 5 min walk) or the train station (right around the corner). The staff are super nice and accommodating. My room was ready early so I didn’t have to check luggage. There is a lovely garden/courtyard where you can rest and relax. Now, on to the room. This is a very old building (1879) so you expect it not to be shiny and new. However, our room was quite dark and a bit dingy. We were on the first floor in the very back. It felt like we were in the basement. The room had a funky scent/perfume smell. The toilet was quite dirty and the shower could use a good scrubbing. The bed was super firm to the point of soreness when I awoke. If you like firm beds, you should be fine. Overall it wasn’t quite as I expected. I didn’t experience it like other reviews. Perhaps rooms on the other floors are better. Half of the lightbulbs in the chandelier in the room were burned out which could have contributed to the darkness. I am sure they are likely short staffed like most. The beds did seem clean, which was comforting. Overall, it is an average hotel.

Good location, less than 10 minute walk from the main bus station & the ‘people mover’ train for anyone heading off on a cruise. Water bus stop very close by & restaurants.
Quiet room, small & no views, but nicely furnished with room safe.
Clean & safe environment. Staff were very friendly & helpful.
Fresh croissants for breakfast although buffet breakfast choices were a bit limited.

Highly recommend Hotel Abbazia! This is a beautiful little hotel, which makes such a welcome change from the larger, modern (impersonal) hotel chains. I travelled solo and stayed three nights to return to beautiful Venice for a few days. The staff are very welcoming and the building is beautifully appointed inside. My room was warm and comfortable, and I liked that there was someone on reception at all times. Having stayed in Venice last year (in an apartment in Calle Priuli die Cavaletti) I knew this was a convenient location for the train station (I visited Padua and Vicenza on a day trip), and I knew it was a short 5 min walk from the airport bus stop in Piazzale Roma. The hotel is located in a quiet little alley (calle) away from the crowds and is 2 mins from the vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal. The hotel breakfast was perfect - lots of variety and again, very welcoming staff. If you’re travelling solo like me, there are lots of options for takeaway food and supermarkets to buy drinks. I really appreciated being able to leave my luggage on the final morning, so that I could visit a few more sights and do a little Christmas shopping. Overall, this is a beautiful little hotel, which welcomes you warmly and feels very special. Thank you.

I find hotels in Venice can be a little “hit and miss”, so usually try to find a 4* close to the station for convenience, but decided to give this hotel a try last week and was not disappointed. As soon as you enter the reception hall, it’s beautiful and tranquil. My room was on the ground floor over looking the garden, had a spacious bathroom, and the air con was most welcome in the heatwave. Buffet breakfast was available in the dining, and I chose to eat at one of the tables in the garden. Breakfast was outstanding, with a large bowls of fresh fruit available, and not just some over ripe pieces that you often see at the buffet. The whole experience was a pleasure, from the comfortable and quiet room, to the courteous and friendly staff. It will certainly be my first choice for future trips to the city.

Abbazia isn’t for traveller’s seeking high-end modern luxury. Perfect for what I like though....antique, relatively inexpensive, and in a fabulous location tucked down a little alley right near the station. Loved the big fancy lounge area which we enjoyed making use of, and the garden looked like a lovely space to use in warmer months. The rooms are nothing fancy, but perfectly comfortable and functional for a good night’s sleep. The self-service area for the breakfast buffet is a bit squishy but the selection of foods was very good and it was another lovely historical room with original timber beams and lots of character. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I hope I get a chance to stay again some day!

We chose this hotel due its easy walking (about 3 minutes) from the San Lucia train station. Off on a minor street, from the outside the hotel was not very attractive. But once inside it was wonderful. It is housed in an old monastery. The reception area was large with a beautiful reading room just off the main entrance. This was apparently the refectory for the monks. The breakfast room was also beautifully appointed. Our room was small (normal though for Europe) and nicely decorated. The bed was too firm for our liking but still comfortable. The bathroom was very modern, with marble throughout. The shower water pressure was poor. There were no bathroom amenities except bottled shampoo and soap. There were no coffee making implements (although we did not ask at reception). Breakfast was very good and varied. Reception was friendly and very helpful. WiFi was consistent and password protected. The hotel is about a 45 minute walk through the crowded city to San Marco. Given its location on a minor street the hotel was very quiet with no external noise. We highly recommend this historic property.

Water taxis can be very expensive and as others have mentioned, still a short walk from Ferovia stop. We flew in from LHR and chose to take the bus €8 PP from memory, bit of a bunfight boarding (no different to any other European destination) we then walked over Constitution Bridge, a bit tricky with suitcases but doable. They have touts with trolleys about €30, they spot tourists a mile away!!! The walk only took about 10-15 minutes and we are over 65! Check out Google earth/maps. You will find Hotel Abbazia delightfully different and staff to be excellent and helpful. Perhaps email them for their suggestions. Enjoy !
