From the time we arrived till the time we left they could not do enough for us.
The location near the train station is ideal and the sound of the bell at 0715 is certainly not a problem and great to wake up to.
This hotel is only a 5 minute walk from S,Lucia Railway station , It is a restored Barefoot Carmalite monastery. There is a private inner garden and the breakfast is wonderful and plentiful. We were given the family room which had a king sized bed...More

The hotel and staff are great. In fact, the only thing that detracted from the experience was the smaller than European average room and the bells that tolled at 7am everyday. (Over one hundred and seventeen times.) Eventually, you learn to tune them out, but...More

My friend and I stayed here in October for 3 nights and we were very pleased with this hotel. It is a former monastary and continues to have the old world ambience. We had a superior double room that was very spacious with a queen...More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby
shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

From Hotel Abbazia come out the front door, turn right and walk to the end of the building. Turn right again and walk about 1 city block past the train station and over the bridge. You can see the building with the Avis office on the right hand side. Walk to the other side of the building and there is "People Mover" (train) that costs 1.5 euro and takes you right to the dock. Fast, close and comfortable. A very short walk.

The best and cheapest way to go/come to/from the airport Marco Polo of Venice (VCE) is to catch the airport shuttle bus of ATVO Company from/to Piazzale Roma (the car/bus/parking terminal) and from /to Piazzale walk for about 7 minutes to the Hotel. The only "issue" could be to cross the new bridge connecting Piazzale Roma to the opposite train station side.
