The people running this hotel are delightful and couldn't be more helpful. The rooms are quaint and clean and it's located really centrally next to the opera but it's quiet and overlooks a small canal. Also rare to find single or twin rooms in Venice.

My daughter recently visited Venice and we stayed at Hotel La Fenice. This is a charming little hotel - the staff are all helpful and friendly, the hotel is clean and although our room faced the street, it was quiet at night and we slept well. They service a nice continental breakfast and good coffee. We particularly liked the location...

The hotel is in a great location that is in no doubt with it only a five/ten minute walk to piazza San Marco. The hotel is also served well by restaurants nearby with a range of price and atmosphere. The hotel itself is decidedly average. The rooms could definitely do with some modernisation or at the very least a touch...

First, full disclosure: I did not select this hotel. I booked through a blind booking site. When I realized which hotel I was assigned, I was NOT happy. I did not feel it was in line with the hotel that was described. I was pretty bummed about it for a long time and just a few days before I left...

Hotel is in a good location, a bit far from where we got down as we had to carry the bags all the way to the hotel, but when ur with family and with a group of 20 I will not suggest this hotel or the breakfast, it is horrible, the rest is fine, friendly people

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking some of you time to leave a review about your experience in our Hotel, however we are a bit surprised about the rating you gave us. It seemed everything was fine starting from our very central location to the kindness of the staff. It is really a pity that you remark only the breakfast,...

Dear Orenc1, thank you for leaving a review about your stay with us. Unfortunately this year during the summer here in Venice we had some days that were extremely hot, and the air conditioning system suffered a bit because of this. We will take in consideration your comment in order to improve this service. Our breakfast is a complimentary cold...

La Fenice is a hotel that embodies Venice in all of its majesty. If you are looking for a true Italian experience in the heart of a magical city, then you have arrived! I went with two of my brothers and a good friend, from the moment we walked through the doors to check in, until the moment we reluctantly...

Stated at the La Fenice in Oct 2016. The hotel has a French Art Deco style typical of Italian hotels. I like this as it feels different & interesting just to be in on a holiday and somewhere different. It was quite pricey there to eat, so didn't try the menu, but it looked very nice. We did though sit...

Location in almost unbeatable with it being right next to the La Fenice but the rooms are incredibly small and the bed very uncomfortable. Most rooms in Venice are pretty small due to the nature of the houses in Venice but these rooms are really small. Breakfast selection is terrible and not good. No fresh food at all. Staff is...

Very comfortable and hospitable. Great staff on reception desk. However, same complaints about temperature which meant open windows and mozzie bites. Bed otherwise comfortable, room spacious. Location is optimal for attractions. Love coming back

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
