We stayed 4 nights at Santa Marina Hotel located centrally only 10 minutes walking away from the Piazza San Marco. It is a pretty hotel decorated in Venice style. It has a very good heating system that we highly appreciated because in February the weather is pretty cold in Venice.
The staff is very friendly, especially the ladies thar served the breakfast. We had a variety of food for breakfast: scrambled eggs, cheese, salami, pies with vegetables, Venetian cookies, yogurts, fruits and cereals. I loved the croissants and different types of bread that they were bringing us with a glass of fresh grapefruit juice when we had just sat on the table. Everything was delicious.
For Covid-19 reasons, the ladies were serving us at the table. We were offered big portions (that were already packed) for only one person. Even if we insisted on splitting one portion because we thought we were not able to eat it, the nice ladies assured us that it is not so big :-)
We liked staying at this hotel. Maybe the only disadvantage is the smell of heating the croissants that came at 6am every morning up to our room and woke us up. They had to close the kitchen doors.

The Santa Marina is in a great location, 5 minutes from Rialto Bridge & St Mark's. It is an exceptionally clean hotel, our room was near the canal which was very noisy early morning due to the deliveries coming in. If you want a sleep in then you will be disappointed however if you can get past that, it is a fair price. The breakfast has lots of choice however the staff are so busy, unfortunately not enough of them, it felt as though, priority serving was given to the Italian guests. But that might have been because we were too polite. The rooms were ok, nothing to complain about, nothing to shout about. Comfy beds but after long days sightseeing you wouldn't have noticed. We had a great shower but our friends in another room and a poor shower but did have a bath. The reception staff were polite and did also serve us in the bar this isn't really advertised but was great to get a drink before bed. Wish we had tea/coffee facilities in room but that's just our personal preference. Overall a nice, great location hotel with a fair price.

A three night stay in Venice to celebrate a big birthday. The trip was offered at a knock down price by Travelodeal. Hotel Santa Marina was unknown to us but it proved a very good choice. Mind you, you have either to know Venice to find it or, as we did, take a water taxi: it’s hidden away in a courtyard accessed through twisting, tiny streets. Check in was straight forward, although the concierge on duty appears a bit of a misery. We were, however, escorted to room 101 by a very pleasant colleague who proved a delight throughout the stay; thank you. The room is quite small; indeed, the right wardrobe door cannot be opened fully because it bumps into the bed, but that’s a minor trouble as the latter proved very comfortable. There is no view beyond rooftops, but so what. The bathroom is tiny but perfectly adequate. Towels etc were changed daily and the maid was excellent. The hotel has no restaurant. The bar appears rarely used: you have to ding a bell to seek service but it is not always answered. When it is, the merlot is nice and, at E3 a glass, cheap for Venice. The experience which will linger, however, is the breakfast. It really is excellent: plenty of continental breakfast alternatives and, as I discovered on the first morning, wonderful scrambled eggs and bacon and, found by my wife, impressive pancakes with fruit or other toppings. The ladies at morning service are a delight, quick and efficient. The location is also convenient for Rialto and then St Mark’s square: an easy stroll, when you discover which exit from the courtyard to use. Check out was easy; you can pay the local tax by card. So, I can recommend Santa Marina to all.

Much more updated than we expected! Lovely hotel, great location (close to everything but not too crowded/busy), welcoming staff, convenient guest-only bar.
Welcoming room with lots of outlets (7 or so), free included wifi, lovely modern bathroom.
And AC worked very well even though it was 35c/95f out! Hint, keeping the bath door closed did keep it much cooler in the room. Housekeeping was great at keeping the shutters mostly closed during the day so the room was as cool as possible when we got back. Our room was ready when we arrived just after noon, but if you need to store luggage there is space by the reception desk.

Positives
Great location - 10 mins walk from St Marco Square and Rialto bridge. 👍
Only 2 stops on the water bus from main central train station and 3 stops from main bus station. 👍 A good enough variety of foods at breakfast and breakfast staff were very efficient and friendly. 🤙🏻 Hotel is situated on a nice square. 🤙🏻

Room for improvement
It has potential to be so much nicer. It was very quiet and lacked atmosphere. 👎 The bar at night was empty but probably because guests dont know it's there. I didn't see anyone sitting in outside seating area as it was hidden round back. 👎
Some staff were very nice and helpful but one male member of the reception desk lacked friendliness and was not very welcoming and never smiled. 👎
Our room was very dark with no light & it was small with nowhere to put our cases and not many plugs. One night at 1.30am we were awoken by people above running loudly across the floor. This went on for hours which kept us awake. 👎 We informed reception who told us there are apartments above that are rented out. They kindly moved us to a much nicer room towards front of hotel which was larger, brighter and quieter.

I wish we has known how much nicer the rooms at the front of the hotel were when we booked as it was like staying in a different hotel. The nice lady receptionist waivered our drinks bill for the inconvenience of a night with no sleep which was very kind.

Hoteo was very good. Rooms are very spacious and classy. Bathrooms were super clean and the staff were very nice.
Breakfast was included (got it from booking) and it was not bad at all. you could order fresh pancakes and scrambled eggs with bacon appart from what was already provided at the buffet.

Stayed here with 2 teenagers. Daughter had room 634 which had a terrace, see photos but 633? I think, faced a wall so not such a good view. Our room was 631 which was bigger and is on its own at the back and very quiet. All rooms were perfect particularly the air con. Staff were lovely and helpful. It is 8 bridges from the station but near a water taxi. This is not a negative but we decided not to have breakfast at the hotel as the place directly opposite was open and could sit outside in the quiet square. Hotel charge 15 euros for breakfast and when we come back we will try it!

Lovely hotel in a great location, perfect for seeing each district of Venice. The staff were very nice and helpful. The breakfast had a large selection of options, with an option of cooked eggs, bacon or pancakes.

The room was well equipped and very clean, it was slightly noises above us a couple of times on our stay, but nothing that hindered our sleep.

We stayed here for 5 nights and would definitely recommend to our family!

Breakfast was delicious - pancakes were to die for (we had both the fruit topped and chocolate topped versions). Scrambled eggs, sausages, fresh fruit, assortment of cheese and pastries. Attendants were very friendly and prompt.
Hotel was in good condition and front desk attendants were very friendly and willing to help in all ways.
Room was very nice. Bedding was comfortable. Air conditioning worked well.
Bathroom was large and updated. The only problem we had was that the shower wall caulking had a few holes which allowed water to run out of the shower onto the floor.
Hotel was each to locate in the Venice streets.

Would definitely stay again in the future!

I’d give a zero but it wouldn’t take it. We booked for 4 nights but we left after the first and we have left before first night if we had another place. The next day we found a nice place even though we had to change rooms each night🙄but the new hotel staff were extremely helpful unlike San Marina in Venice. We were NOT told we would not be staying in the HOTEL but down the street and around the corner, down an alley. I will post photo of the entrance to our room from corner

How to get to the hotel from airport
Answer from April B
Lancashire, United Kingdom2 contributions4 helpful votes
On the plane we bought a ticket which took you from the airport to Venice. These can also be purchased outside the airport. This is around a 20 min journey and will take you along their motorway. This ticket was €7.50 pp. When we arrived in Venice where there is no longer any cars, we purchased a water boat ticket at €7.50 as well, which took you along the canal. To got to the hotel, you need to get off at the Rialto stop, which it is a 5 minute walk from there. Took us longer as we got lost, but you can use google maps to help you get there. Venice is a beautiful city, but like a maze!
