A really nice little hotel, great location, very original. A little tired in some parts but clean and tidy and nice complimentary breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. Would definitely return here and highly recommend it to couples or families :-)

We stayed for two nights in a triple room at this hotel, and it is in a fantastic location - very easy to get around. The breakfast was also nice with a great view over the water. The room was OK, we purchased wi-fi from reception but it was not working. However the room was clean, and we were a...

This was our last stop on our mother/adult daughter trip and I was hoping for a bit of a "tada" and this was it. It also came at a price, but worth it. Our room overlooked the canal and all that view brings to the experience. We watched the boats coming and going, the food off loaded every morning for...

We stayed two nights at Locanda Ovidius. We very much enjoyed our stay. The hotel is clean, the breakfast was plentiful and had enough items to be satisfying, the staff speaks English and were very helpful. The location was great for such a short stay as it is very close to the Rialto Bridge, water taxi stops, and a short...

My husband and I spent three nights here. We flew into Milan and took a train to Venice, arrived around 3 pm. From there we took the 1 bus boat? along the Grand Canal. Our room was ready for us. We had a 2nd floor room and we overlooked Calle del Sturion. The room was interestingly decorated, it was green...

hotel is at a good location and the only reason that we need to pay more? its a usual hotel with basic amenities. Also thee is no wifi in the room. Need to come to the living area to get connected. Breakfast is also normal and nothing special. So I feel this is certainly overpriced ! Although we had a...

Woo how lucky were we to find this place so very last minute! I desperately wanted a Grand Canal view and i wanted to get it at a reasonable price ( i dont tend to spend much time in the hotel so didn't want to over pay). We were pleasantly suprised by the location and the hotel. Our room had...

We had a great location right on the canal with a clean room. Breakfast was good and the view excellent. They make you leave the key behind which is a bit strange and awkward when there isn't anyone at the desk and no ID check when there is someone there. It worked well but I'd try someplace else that was...

At the reception there is always a person, for the security of all. Probably the clerk on duty at that time had been called by a customer, Anyway thanks for your feedback; hoping you would like, next time, stay with us, send our best regards

Perfect location near Rialto bridge - very handy for vaporetto to airport, short walk to all parts of the city, great restaurants, bars and rialto market on the doorstep. Breakfast room and living room have one of the best views in Venice over Grand canal, we had a lovely relaxing time sitting on balcony with a glass of wine enjoying...

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
