We booked our stay here in April 2016 and stayed here 31 Dec 2016 until 2 Jan 2017. When we arrived, we were informed that we would be staying in the hotel outbuilding, this is located about 50m from the main hotel. This was apparently due to the hotel being overbooked. The room was very cold and not at all...

A lovely 3 star hotel in the heart of Venice, only minutes walk from Rialto Bridge, St Mark's Square etc. The hotel is on the 2nd floor of an old palace on an open piazza, but with no lift, it's not for those who are less able on their feet. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, nothing...

Dear Philip, Thank you for your stay here in Cà Malipiero and the great review left on our tripadvisor page. You are completely true, Cà Malipiero is an old beautiful palace but at the moment, unfortunately, suitable only for guest who feel comfortable in climbing stairs. One day maybe we will be able to get an elevator! Waiting for your...

This was a rezidenza and was so venetian In style. Very romantic. Please note the entrance was at the side of the building and wasn't very clear on directions. As it was a residence, there was no lift and reception was on the 2nd floor. Worth the climb. Rooms were beautiful. There was a guy that insisted on carrying our...

Dear Catherine, Thank You for your visit and your nice review. You are right, our entrance located on the left side of the building (exactly the 2nd door right after the bridge of Ruga Giuffa) is not always easy to find for new guests. Unfortunately we are not allowed to put any other sign to mark it, except on the...

We were placed in the annex building a short walk from the primary building - quite modern and comfortable in comparison to the old palazzo. Very comfortable, great location and reasonably spacious. Do need better signage to front door to find the place - the front door is NOT located on canal (where the hotel sign is located, but rather...

My family and I spent two nights at Residenza Ca' Malipiero. We had booked a room based on the reviews and the score given by other travellers. I had thought this was the best way to select a hotel. Not anymore. Never in my life have I seen such a discrepancy between what was advertised or praised and what was...

Beautiful hotel, very friendly staff, quiet and very very quaint location. Takes shabby chic to another level, amazing decor. Breakfast is more than adequate, beautiful home made cakes/pastries. Coffee is lovely 😀. Wish I could give this place 10/10 as 5/5 doesn't do it just 😃.

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times now and have liked each visit. I adore the old rooms with the beautiful designs. Especially the rooms that face the square. The location is great, close to the center but not close enough for all the noise and peopl traffic. Great stay overall.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
