We spent 5 nights at Locanda La Corte in April, during Easter week. The room was well appointed - not large but more than sufficient. The breakfast was good and more varied than the typical Italian hotel offering. The weather was chilly and rainy so we could not enjoy sitting in the lovely courtyard but the staff was warm and...

Very quiet hotel, which has probably 10-20 rooms. Rooms are very clean and cozy in a classical style. Nice terrace, where the breakfast is served. Breakfast is not rich: just cheese, ham, cornflakes, yogurts, jam. But their hot croissants are very delicious! It’s enough to start your day in an amazing Venice. 10 min walk to St. Marco square or...

The hotel is very easy to get to from the airport (use the public water boat run by Aliaguna, avoid the very expensive water taxis) and get off at the second stop (Fondamente Nuovo). Then it's a short walk to the hotel. It's a quiet location, but a very short walk to San Marco or Rialto where it is not...

Venice is a very hard city to find anything decent for a reasonable price. This hotel has a good location between San Marco and the Rialto Bridge. It's slightly cheaper than other places with a similar quality, so that's a plus. I would probably stay here again only because Venice is bereft of anything above average at less that €300...

We had five wonderful days at Locanda La Corte in April 2012. Situation was excellent, not too far from anywhere, but in a really nice quiet area. We too visited the wonderful Osteria next door. Hotel staff and the manager very helpful at all times, and very friendly. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed, overlooking the very pretty...

This hotel was a lovely way to start our 2-week vacation in Italy. It's quiet, cozy and well-run. Our room was very comfortable, with a beautiful view of one of the many canals. We enjoyed breakfast every morning, with a nice choice of food and bevereages. The staff was unfailingly friendly and helpful. The manager took care to make sure...

We stayed at Locanda la Corte 5 nights in April 2012. We had a Junior Suite just a few steps from the courtyard and lobby. the room was very comfortable; had a safe; and looked down a canal (bedroom/living room) and the lobby(from the bathroom). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They spoke English and French very well and...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
