We stayed for 3 nights at Ca' Tintoretto, the guesthouse that is just across the street from the main hotel building, where the reception is located and breakfast was served. Our suite was very comfortable and clean and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. Canaregio is a lovely part of Venice to stay, slightly less crowded (if any... More

I was a little concerned, having read some previous reviews of this hotel, however I have to to say I was extremely happy with this hotel and the staff. Ten females arrived here on Friday 13th and was made very welcome by the lady on reception. Although there is no lift we managed the three floors to our room with... More

Initially we were given a room in an annex across the street and down a narrow passage where the only window was 2 metres from a brick wall so, very little daylight. Room gloomy and dingy with a bathroom to match. On request we were moved to a three bedded room overlooking the canal for a supplement of 50 euros.... More

Our room was adequate in size - but the bathroom was ridiculous in terms of layout - almost impossible to use the toilet. The beds were rock hard and very uncomfortable. We did complain and got moved to another room for our third night - which was better but again beds very hard. We found the breakfast to be fairly... More

Dear Sirs, we are disappointed that your stay was not so nice as you expected but probably we could make it better if you only asked at the reception extra pillows , the key for the safety box and cheese ( we received in the moorning of the departure date but we didn't have time to put it on the... I completely do not recommend this hotel. It is a shame to such a wonderful city. We reached the hotel late in the evening and there was no one to check us in. The porter who doesn't understand a single thing took ages to check us in and during the process entered into another guests room. The morning breakfast was... More

Dear Sir, we are very surprised to read your disappointment. When arrived at 8 pm a receptionist welcomed you and checked you in. He lost time in activate the electronic key of your room because the computer suddenly locked off and maybe you waited 2 or 3 minutes for that! You reserved a double room with a canal view and... Pros: - Location is good, close to one of the main streets in Venice (Strada Nuova), that has many markets and souvenir shops. It is also quite close to the Grand Canal (7 minutes walk). Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
