The best part of the hotel is its location. Between rialto and san marco square. Very good breakfast and nice people. Wifi was ok. They need to change many things in the rooms and keep them more clear.

I have been to Venice several times and paid more for a hotel than I did for this hotel, but this hotel is so much better than others! It is a bit difficult to find but, once you do, it is in such a fabulous location you will pat yourself on the back for choosing it! We were on the...

Located in a very critical spot of Venice, this traditional hotel offers almost everything a traveller desires from a stay in Venice. nice, small rooms, clean facilities, homemade fresh breakafast and kind and helpful staff. and all these things with a quiet logical price! definitely, Serenissima hotel is a 'descent' choice!

We needed one night's accommodation prior to cruising but being a weekend most hotels required a 2 night stay. We had been there in 2008 as part of a tour group. When we mentioned we had been there before .... One night - no problem! When we arrived we were so surprised at the size of our room. Huge by...

I give Hotel Serenissima a five more for its location than anything else. The breakfast buffet is much improved over four years ago, the last time we were there. The room was small, but in Venice, that's what you're going to get. The best thing about the hotel is its perfect location, located about halfway between Piazza San Marco and...

A great little hotel in the centre of Venice. Tucked away and a little difficult to find, but it was worth it. Although quite basic, this hotel was spotlessly clean, a great shower, friendly and helpful staff. I'd recommend it.

Best possible location for the price. Aircon not switched on which was a shame because an open window onto the street brings in extensive noise. Ask for a room at the back. Charming owners and friendly staff. Boutique breakfast. No other meals. Make sure you get a private water taxi to the local stop off. I would stay again.

Stayed two nights with a tour. Older hotel with no elevator. Rooms are small but clean. Our room was quite and the free Wi-Fi worked well. The staff was friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Best feature is great location with just a short walk to St Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
