This well run, comfortable hotel is in the perfect position for a trip to Venice. It lies almost equidistant from The Rialto Bridge, St. Mark's Square and the oft forgotten area around the Accademia.
The rooms are small but well laid out and comfortable. The...More
Hotel Serenissma is located in between Rialto and San Marco. The hotel gives you a map when you book your reservation, but it can get kind of confusing because the streets are so small. If you're coming from the airport, I would suggest taking the...More

Thanks for taking the time to write a review on our Hotel.
As policy of the Hotel we never contest any type of personal opinion, but it is matter of fact that breakfast is served from 7.00 am to 10.00 am. Besides telling...More
I stayed at the Hotel Serenissima in August 2015 and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the single room they allocated to me. Both the room and bathroom are a good size and I didn't feel cramped. I would go so far to say...More
We were extremely satisfied with our two-night stay at Serenissima this July. The hotel is situated about halfway between St Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge, making for easy points of access for time-sensitive tours, dinner reservations, etc. Very friendly and knowledgable front desk, and...More
The location of this hotel was good - in a city like Venice, it was actually not too difficult to find, using Google Maps (not the map the hotel provides - not sure you would find it as easily with their map). If you want...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

It depends how heavy your bag is! I remember there being a few bridges to cross, where you will need to pick up your bag and carry them up and back down several steps. I had a small carry on size bag so no problem for me. I think the biggest problem might be if you arrive when cruise ship passengers are on the island. It can be tricky navigating the crowds and the steps!
