We stayed for 3 nights in January for a birthday weekend trip to Venice. The hotel is located 2 minutes walk from the vaparretto stop Arsenale. It takes 1 hour 10 minutes direct from the airport and is the most civilised and relaxing airport transfer ever. We arrived late afternoon and saw the most spectacular sunset as we sailed round...

A bucintoro is a Venetian Barge and all rooms are named after boats ours was Jolina a racing yacht. We'd got a Super deal and had upgraded to a suite which was perfect and had 3 windows directly overlooking the lagoon. Well worth the upgrade. Made to look like a boat it was warm and snug but with windows you...

The most little charming hotel one could imagine! Perfectly situated at the water front where the ferry from the airport arrives. 5-10 minutes walk to the Marcus square. A bit tiny room but very comfortable bed. Limited continental breakfast buffet, nothing for a glutton. Friendly staff. Neat and tidy.

The eloquent decor of each room is inspired by a different merchant ship from long ago. We found the staff to be professional and the amenities of high class. Above all, we especially enjoyed the amazing views!

A very small hotel. Would grade it about 3-4 stars. Nothing so special about this hotel except for it's view. Rooms are facing the canal which is nice but most hotels in Venice are also having this view... rooms are much smaller than it looks in the pictures... the location is also not that fantastic... about 15 minutes walk from...

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights during July, the hotel is not far from the stop on the water bus walking distance. Also very closely situated to st marks square the walk along side of the canals is enjoyable. We had breakfast included with our room with a good selection of meats cheeses and pastries. The only gripe would...

We had a wonderful stay at the Bucintoro Hotel. The hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from St Mark's Square yet is away from the big crowds being in the Castillo region. I understand all rooms have views of the lagoon but our lovely wood panelled room with its four windows gave us wonderful views. The hotel was beautifully...

Small hotel overlooking the harbour. Nearest water taxi stop is Arinsal. The hotel has a boat theme. We were on the first floor and had 3 windows with views across the lido and to the square. The room was a little small however this wasn't a problem because the quality of the room and the finish of the room more...

Small hotel of 21 rooms with elevator. The hotel has a nautical theme, and from my room with 3 windows with the views of the lagoon I could almost feel I was on a boat. The bed was very comfortable, the amenities were high standard and the breakfast had plenty offerings. The staff was professional and the lady managing the...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
