There is nothing special about this hotel. The room we stayed in was tired and cramped. The hotel's website claims that the interior has been renovated but we couldn't find any evidence of that. The front desk staff offered the bare minimum customer service -- not horrible, but not great. The breakfast was disappointing... canned fruits, stale bread, disgusting coffee...

Instructions to find hotel good, brilliant location for exploring Venice. Room 138 is on the first floor but next to the cleaners cupboard so if you like a lie in this isnt the room for you as the walls are thin and their key in and out of the lock is a great alarm clock! Bed was clean but two...

Very welcoming and accommodating staff here. This really is a great location to be based as so many of Venice's star attractions are so close! Very good value for money too. A very decent breakfast, we were also given a juice on arrival. Rooms are clean and staff work very hard, but always meet your look with a smile.

Have just returned from a 3 night break at this hotel. Excellent location, 5 minutes from the Rialto Bridge, 5 minutes from St Marks Square. Hotel kindly emailed excellent directions of how to get to the hotel from the airport, very easy to follow. I personally would request room at front of the hotel as our room was at the...

Yes it is an historic building so don't expect anything other than a real stay in Venice! Loved it! Perfect for spending days walking through Venice as it is central to all the sights. And has a fantastic restaurant directly across from it that shouldn't be missed, Sabrina. The staff are fantastic, and the breakfast was great, my wife loved...

The location was excellent, just 5 minutes from the Rialto Bridge. A fairly busy street but our room was at the back and it was quiet at night. The en-suite was spotless as was the room but the pillows were very hard and the decor rather tired and dated. It desperately needed a freshen up. The breakfast offered a good...

It is not often that I choose to visit the same hotel twice while on holiday but this little spot was so good we did a repeat. Close to Rialto bridge and all the great spots to see, quiet and we'll run. I love visiting a place where they get the attention to detail right!!

Went on our honeymoon and first stop in our travels of Italy. Lovely hotel, the staff were fantastic - from cleaners, to catering staff to receptionists. Most of all - the location. It's centred between the Rinalto bridge and San Marco Piazza, making the sights of Venice but a short walk away.

I am happy to say that my stay at this hotel was pleasant. The front desk was more than helpful with all of my requests including finding a seamstress to take in my wife's dress for a party. Cannot beat the location. If you arrive via vaparetto from the Rialto bridge stop, hire a porter to bring your bags. It...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
