The DONI family has managed the hotel since 1946 and has been recognized for its professional activities. Nikos,Tessa,Gina and Annabella will let you breathe a family air, making you feel at home in the most beautiful city of the world. This building is an ancient palace of 1700 in Venetian Gothic style that overlooks the canal of Vin where you can hear the serenades from the gondolas and is located at only two minutes walking from the most beautiful square of the town: St Mark's Square. The hotel is also in front of the main boat station of Venice "San Zaccaria" where you can take the public transport to the airport or to the train station.

Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Lovely small hotel , very easy access to vaporetta, San Marco and some lovely bars and restaurants. Room was large, clean and comfortable with a fabulous ceiling and stunning Venetian glass. Staff friendly and gave advice on acqua alta and the offer of wellingtons.

The worst hotel I’ve ever been. Bedroom hot as hell. The receptionist (an oriental man) is the most rude person a hotel could hire. He doesn’t make the tiniest effort to be sympathetic. That was an awful experience that I hope no one else have.

The hotel is a two-minute walk to St. Mark's Square but on a quiet, less traveled Calle. Access to the vaporetti, restaurants, gelato stands, neighborhood markets was excellent. Our room was large by European standards, the bed was comfortable, the shower had good pressure. The...More
