After a small confusion over the room booking, ( a double room instead of a family room) this was blamed on the owners lack of understanding and after apologies we soon had a crib for our two year old. Breakfast was served promptly the next morning at the agreed time, as there is no dining area this is brought to... More

Hotel Galleria was the prefect fit for us. The location could not have been better...easy access to vaporettos, water bus, the Accademia Bridge. This is an excellent central location for any kind of excursion around Venice. Lots of action, but not a lot of noise. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast in our room was wonderful, as we sat... More

Hotel Galleria was a delightful unique view of Venice. A wonderful location on a busy intersection in Venice at the foot of the Academy bridge on the Grand Canal. Excellent location, great breakfast, extremely helpful staff. It delivered exactly what we expected. The surrounding neighborhood was great. Plenty of shops and trattorias. We took a water taxi from the airport... More

A friend and I stayed at the hotel galleria in room #1. The noise level is awful. You can hear the phone ringing at the front desk, people passing outside on the street and people talking in the lobby all night long. There is also no view of the canal from this room. If you have bags, this hotel is... More

This hotel was simply wonderful! It was everything we needed for our one night staying in Venice I loved that our hotel room looked right out onto the public area at the foot of the Accademia Bridge! Such a beautiful and interesting area! It was still pretty lively well into the night, but I found that to be part of... More

A beautiful room with original ceiling Mural and a real sense of history. A fantastic location overlooking the Academia bridge with the hustle of motorboats and activity adding to the atmosphere. Great luxury and history. Your host Stephano is knowledgeable and always willing to assist any without being intrusive. I would return with great pleasure

Initially, I was put off by the fact that there is no air conditioning, that breakfast is only served in the room an that the rooms are relatively small. Not staying here would have been a big big mistake on my part. I simply loved the place. Small, intimate with charming staff. The fan was more than sufficient and being... More

The Hotel Galleria IS Venice for us! We book a room on the Grand Canal and melt into the ambiance of the city. Yes.....the room is small, but we aren't there for the room. Location, location, location! And...the breakfast is perfect and the staff very friendly. Did I mention location! If you want a BIG room, maybe not; but if... More

Excellent address where I stay and appreciate a room on the grand canal, whenever I go to Venice. Warm welcome, hotel idealy located in a quiet area between Salute and Academia, at only few steps from Zattere, just at the vaporetti stop 1 and 2. The most charming and practical hotel that I know and recommend into the center of... More

My sister, myself and 2 friends stayed in the largest room, Room number 10. It overlooked the canal, and was so tastefully decorated. We could smell the Breakfast when Lucero brought it up to the room, homemade fresh croissants, yogurts, coffee, tea - just amazingly wonderful! I would definitely recommend this beautiful hotel!

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
