I always only make refundable bookings but somehow made a non-refundable one for my stay. I called Hotels.com immediately and asked them for help. They called the hotel and were told by them they will not cancel even if its in error. I called the hotel and the lady asked me to write an email to the manager. No response....

We stayed a short two nights in Venice and Hotel Messner, but found everything to be lovely! The staff was very helpful and friendly, the room comfortable (the bathroom a bit tiny!). Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast very much! Would definitely stay here again!

Rooms are very tiny-one could hardly walk around the bed. Bathroom is small, used and partly broken - mildew everywhere. Staff is rather unfriendly-they don't make you feel welcome nor appreciated as guest. In the end they wanted us to pay a tourist tax which wasn't the same as the amount on our booking confirmation. Reason: they've upgraded us. First...

We did not like this hotel. We were in the annex and the room had an overpowering smell of air freshener. The room was quite shabby. The asian lady on reception was indifferent, for example on our last day we noticed that there was a lovely garden out of the back which I assume is for guests use. Why was...

It is terrible to sleep. You hear every single thing from the rooms next to you, the corridor, coming up from the stairs, street. Price-quality of restaurant not worth it, and service is terrible except for the Russian lady

It was a bad choice. I didn't like it. It was hard to find. I couldn't sleep. People were to noisy late at night. It was a bright light outside just in front of the room that didn't let me sleep either.

Excellent location, the hotel is located close to most of the tour start posts and is very close to St. Marks square. The Breakfast was scrumptious with a good selection. The room was small and on the 2nd floor with NO LIFT!!!!!! WE HAD TO CARRY OUR LUGGAGE up the steps which were very steep. We felt that there was...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
