I was booked in a room in the annex of the hotel. The room was much smaller than it appeared in the photos. The shower was clogged on the first night of my stay. Rather than fixing it, the bald fat Italian guy behind the desk said angrily to me that it was Sunday and no plumber was available. No...

I went with family two weeks ago, after searching to stay in Venice instead of the usual Mestre. It was a good hotel, and quickly to arrive after taking a vaporetto, though it is hidden in a small alleyway, so you take time to find it. Our room was large (had three beds and good storage space), but the bathroom...

Rooms appear clean but very small and the hotel appears spooky. We reached the hotel today and are guided to a building few blocks behind the original hotel. The wifi connectivity doesn't connect at all and the hotel staff is unapologetic about it.We slept hungry as there is no option to eat at this hour

I was looking for a hotel inside the city and close to central district. Reading the comments, I was a little bit afraid to stay in the annexe. Forget everything, the annexe are really a good place to stay, of course, you do not book a room for a romance, at 40€ it's a amazing deal in Venice where everything...

This was the second time our family group of 7 (3 parents and 4 adult children) stayed at Hotel Messner. We originally chose it because the reviews on TripAdvisor and other sites were quite positive and the price was very good. We arrived in the morning, so our rooms were not ready, but they willingly stored our luggage while we...

The staff was helpful, the location was excellent, the price was wonderful, the rooms were spotless. My only complaint is the shower, it was in very poor condition. Overall great experience and I would stay there again.

I had an amazing experience in Hotel Messner. The room was good and really clean. The shower a little small but that didn't bother me. The A/C worked really well. Location was a but far from the train station but close to a water bus and tourist attraction. The staff were extremely helpful and kind.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
