During our 3 week stay in Europe and the UK, our 2 days at Hotel Paganelli was our "WOW". We were upgraded to the 3rd floor overlooking the Grand canal - Wow. Views to die for. Right on the doorstep of St Mark's Square. The staff were amazing - friendly, professional, efficient - nothing was too much.

I really have no idea what some people on here are on about. We stayed in room 207, beamed bedroom with amazing views accross the canal, comfy bed (yes it's two singles put together the same as everywhere else in Europe practically) not a problem and the pillows were the best I've had in many many hotel stays, plus there...

This is my 4th stay at the Paganelli over the last 25 years and it won't be my last. Everything about it is great -- the location, the price, the staff and the rooms. I took my 3 teenage grandchildren and we shared the large family room facing the lagoon. A really short walk to St. Mark's and right near...

The hotel itself is quite pleasant, with nothing too wonderful, but nothing to complain of either. The best aspect of the hotel is its location right on the waterfront a few blocks down from St Marks Square, and one block down from the Danielli - in other words, fabulous. Breakfast was OK and the staff were pleasant. We would certainly...

Rate (Dec 26th 2016 to Dec 28th) was fantastic and location amazing. Right next to water taxi and water bus stops so no lugging luggage through the tiny streets of Venice. Footsteps away from Bridge of Sighs and St Marks Square. Room for our family (Room 101) of four was basic with a queen bed and two single beds for the kids....

This is a small, cozy, and comfortable hotel located two footbridges away from San Marco Square. In addition to being close to the square, it is actually footsteps away from an Allilaguna water taxi station. We arrived early and the desk clerk took our luggage and stored it while we saw some sites. When we returned, the luggage had been...

The Wifi was inconsistent & verrry slow. Breakfast really nothing special - in fact it left quite a lot to be desired! But our room & bathroom was clean & the hotel is very well located. We were given a room in a next door building (hotel Campiello).

We booked a room with a view and WOW what a view!! The room itself was clean and comfortable and though the decor was not exactly modern it had a charm that was fitting for Venice. We were happy with it none the less. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. It was a little expensive but it's all about...

We stayed in that hotel for 2 nights in a triple room. We had view on the laguna - amazing. They accommodated the room to fit an extra bed for our daughter. Nights were very quite and peaceful (indeed no cars in Venise). Everything was perfect expected the breakfast which was in a building next corner. Issue was not the...

Stayed a night at this hotel which has a great bar at the ground floor. The rooms are rather small but the location is great. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. The breakfast simple yet filling.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
